Hello there,
I just thought I would put a suggestion out there that can maybe help the innocent new user feel more welcome at Hive or Peakd.
When I first login to Hive or Peakd this is the page that I see,
or when I go to the main page,
Yes as you can see nothing much going on, nothing for the new user to see and feel what Hive is really about. Here I would need to subscribe to communities to see something kicking on the pages that I land into after logging in.
To be honest when I first started using Hive or similar sites, I was wandering about several months before landing on the communities tab and then realizing that this was where the action is. Imagine how many users felt like there was nothing here and moved on. We have that one chance to show them something colorful yet here it feels empty.
My suggestion is to show them content (until they voluntarily subscribe to the communities they like) on their main feed. Rather than go to the Blog tab, give them an additional tab like 'Hive Main' where they get to see the rich content on Hive. My suggestions for the default communities are:
OCD
OnChainArt
Photography
(Three topics which most people like to see),
Just my two cents,
I am sure the people here are doing their best to get people on board and make Hive thrive.
Best Regards,
Earthling
