Enugu is indeed a coal city🥰
Hello everyone, hope you all are having a great day? Well, it's your baby girl, vickee and I will be talking about my visit to Enugu, so I'll love to say, have fun while you read.
So, I visited Enugu one time around last year, precisely December and I must say, I had great fun.
Starting from Day 1: My Trip to Enugu.
I had a road trip to Enugu State and used the opportunity to admire nature (breeze, trees, mountains) and also drama from security officers and fellow travellers. It was a 4 hours journey, so it was a short one.
While in the bus, I had this guy beside me that was sleeping continuously and decided to use my shoulder as a pillow😂😂. It was frustrating then but when I look at it now, it was very funny. So, you see, I had my shoulder occupied till I got to the park at Enugu.
Another very annoying experience was; In Nigeria, while traveling, once you get to a check point, you dare not answer a call if not your phone will be seized by the officers or you will be punished. So, on our way, there was this very beautiful and chubby young lady that sat beside the driver and was always on a call. She always got lucky with the officers at each check point. The driver also kept on warning her repeatedly but she refused to listen until we got to a particular checkpoint occupied with soldiers. Madam refused to listen ooo until they asked her to come down and ordered her to get her phone, then she got scared and started shaking. I was very angry at that point because we had to wait for her as I was already getting tired of sitting for too long, yet, it was still funny because of her reactions and body movements. She was so scared.
As the good fellow travellers that we were, we started pleading on her behalf and as God could have it, they warned her seriously and gave her back her phone and we continued our journey.
If you were a fellow traveller, what would you have done? lol. I'm sure she learnt her lesson.
So, from here, while admiring nature, we had a smooth journey to Enugu.
When I got to Enugu, I realized there was no other place in Nigeria that had so much brown dust like Enugu State. All of a sudden, my white shirt turned brown and my feet was like that of a farmer. It was not pleasing to the sight, yet, that chilly feeling due to the cold weather was something I really wanted, so the equation was balanced😂😂.
I finally got to my boyfriends house, and I was so happy to see him, his brothers, cousins and his mum. We had dinner, gisted, said night prayers, I had a bath and went to bed. This was done accordingly as mentioned cause I was so hungry regardless of how uncomfortable I felt due to the dust, laugh out loud.
Day 2: Lots of Food
Like I said in my introduction, "I'm a certified foodie"😊
I woke up the next day and was ready to devour any food that would come my way.
So, after our morning devotion, I started with complaining to my guy that I was very hungry, then we strolled to the kitchen.
We made Abacha (a nigerian dish) and ate it while washing it down with very sweet fresh palm wine. "Satisfying"😋. Then I ate a very big puff puff as a snack before the main dish rice and a very nourishing detailed stew.
After eating, we showered then stayed in the sitting room for "Netflix and chill" we saw lots of movies, ate, gisted, continuously till the day was over.
Day 3: Ekenes birthday
Yeah, I'm also a certified baker and I went to Enugu state with a birthday cake.
So, it was my boyfriend's younger brother's birthday and we celebrated it.
After morning devotion, we did some house chores, freshened up and decided to go shopping.
We had a smooth ride to shoprite located at GRA in Enugu state and my hunger started😥. That was how I ate semovita and bitter leaf soup that tasted like I was in heaven, y'all should try this food out when you get there.
After eating, we got lots of chocolates, drinks, chips and lots of items and headed home.
We got home, freshened up and prepared for the birthday party at home.
Hurray!!! it was time to celebrate. We had fun, played music, drank lots of juice, ate rice, chips, many more and finally the cake. It was a vanilla and strawberry cake and it was rich in beauty and taste. Just take a look at this:
This 3 layered goodness finished immediately, it was really good.
We finished partying an I gave Ekene his birthday gift, we were happy and the party was over.
Day 4: Cooking
As usual, we said night prayers and had a good night rest the previous day.
After morning devotion here in day 4, everybody were so tired from partying and munching of all the food and cake, thank God it was a Saturday.
So, I decided to make some delicacies for them and guess what I made: Okro soup and Egwusi soup; both African dishes.
It's the video for me, hahahaha.
Cooking was really fun this day because we were making lots of jokes, laughing, showing some dance moves, singing with the spoon as a proposed microphone until we were done cooking, tidying up the kitchen and serving some hot dishes.
We finished eating and I got beautiful comments from his mum and siblings. I was pleased.
After resting, we stepped out to have a little bit of fun as we played on a Mary go round in a play ground. It was scary because we were riding so high but it was still fun.
We came back home and spent the remaining hours of the day watching some Nigerian movies which Bimbo Ademoye played as a lead actor in the movie.
Day 5: Sunday
We both woke up late so we missed churchðŸ˜. My morning face was still cute though.
Everybody went to church and left us at home, so we just cleaned up the house, prepared food, had a bath, talked, laughed and kept on chatting till his family came back from church.
We pretended to be asleep and slept of from there, lol. After some hours, we woke up and he decided to teach me how to drive.
Then I had my driving experience: First time on steering😂😂😂.
It was an amazing yet funny experience. I was sweating profusely but I was a fast learner. I even hit a road divider but there was no damage to the car.
I'm still learning though.
Day 6: Lockdown
So, there's always lockdown on mondays at Enugu for the time being.
Monday was lockdown there so we locked down with Netflix and chill again.
It was just a normal day for us and they all started missing me when I broke the news that I was leaving the next day
Day 7: Home Sweet Home
"We are finally here" I said as I woke up to get ready to go back to Rivers state.
I didn't want to go back but I had to because my life, my family, my business were all waiting for me, so, yeah, I had to go back home.
I had a smooth trip back home and I realized I missed home, then, I thanked God for journey mercies.
I hope I didn't bore you all, thank you for taking your time to enjoy this story.
