There's quite a value in having a trusty ol' Land Cruiser as a work horse, without a chance of it ever letting you down. I can see why that would make it quite discomforting car for more regular usage, but that GXL is at least a bit more posh. Not going to fault anyone for getting the 200 instead of the 70, that's for sure.
I didn't know they made a V8 version of the 70, though. Quite an impractical choice for an off-roader, though there's quite some appeal just for the fun of it. This reminds me of when Land Rover stuffed a Jag V8 into old Defenders. They're fast, yet going around corners could possibly topple you over. It's really very silly, and I guess that's the whole point of it... :-p
The engine in the 70 is the same 4.5L V8 as in the 200. Detuned though and not twin turbo.
I suppose the difference is that the 200 is more refined, and expected to use a V8, instead of stuffing it in as an after thought. The rest of the 200 has been taken into consideration too, inside and out to make sure that it'll always be that trusty Land Cruiser, but with a bit more V8 muscle!
Yep, far more refined and well-appointed. Still, if I could I would have both. Maybe one day.
