Beauty in Withering

Who enjoys the garden in autumn, nearly winter, after finishing almost all vegetables and flowers? I do! In fact, I especially enjoy my garden after harvesting all of my vegetables in late autumn or early autumn before the blooming season.

I’m not sure I can fully explain why, but sometimes, I see beauty just before or after the peak moment. Of course, the lush, abundant atmosphere is also beautiful.

In Japan, there's a concept in Japanese aesthetics called Wabi-sabi Wabi-sabi is a worldview centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Finding beauty in imperfection! That is exactly what I see in my garden in late autumn.

I don’t often decorate my rooms with dried flowers because I prefer not to bring dried plants inside the house, nor living flowers for that matter. I want to see them outside, in nature.

These are my lupine flowers with their seeds. They are one of my favourite mountain flowers. I picked some seeds along the road and planted them in my backyard. They spread nicely and are doing well there. The flowers come in white, purple, and pink, though most of them are purple in my yard.

Their flowers are so charming, but I also love these dried lupines. They still look very beautiful. I don’t want to pick them because it’s a perfect time for them to spread their seeds naturally.

These are hosta flowers. I love the sound they make when the wind blows. They sway in the wind, brushing against each other as if dancing and singing.

Here are some black-eyed Susans. Although there are still a few yellow flowers left in my garden, most are done blooming. However, the black centers on the stems remain vibrant.

I believe this is Queen Anne’s lace. I love the shape of its dried flower. I doubt I could recreate this shape naturally even if I tried natural artwork, which is always the best.

These are dried blackberry leaves and daisy fleabane. They still retain some colour.

When I visit the empty field near my house with my dog, I see a bunch of dried flowers there. They look like dried flower bouquets, creating beautiful decorations.

When we step into the field, the wind blows, and they dance and make beautiful music for us. I wish we had fields like this everywhere. Flower shops are pretty, but I prefer a big field full of natural flowers.

Once the snow season starts, snow will cover these dried flowers, creating another amazing view. I love to enjoy each season in my garden.

IMG_9510.jpeg

IMG_9508.jpeg

IMG_9513.jpeg

IMG_9514.jpeg

Nature always amazed us even before the plants going to die.
Let the seeds spread naturally is beautiful thought!
