- I was in the area of Quinta do Conde in Portugal, hiking in the area where nature abounds and I found gigantic nests in tall trees or even in electrical structures, so I approached to observe what bird it is and surprisingly are white storks, so I found these famous birds that deliver babies, in animated films. So with a lot of curiosity I approached and photographed these majestic birds.
The first thing we can know visually about this animal is that it is a large bird, even its nests are huge. From a distance we can distinguish that they are of a large size. These birds are not stupid, they make their homes in the maximum possible height as buildings, big trees and nowadays they are using electric rafters, we also know that their nests are in urban objects and, however, they are not removed, the reason is because it is a protected bird and in Europe you can have a fine between 5,000-200,000 if you get to damage it. Why are they protected? Thanks to human urbanization, its habitat ceased to exist in several parts of the world, so the animal had to adapt by making its nests in churches, buildings, electrical posts, etc. Also another reason is because their population has been reduced to an alarming level due to collisions in flight with power lines and the risks derived from anti-pest chemical campaigns, barely leaving these birds any chance of survival.
They are migratory birds. When winter comes, these friends fly to East Africa to escape the cold; however, because of global warming, some of them stay in the country because the temperature does not affect them many years ago.
Food Like many birds, our friend feeds on insects such as worms, grasshoppers, but their diet is varied because they also eat fish, frogs, crustaceans and snakes, it is normal, since the habitat of them is usually in swampy areas so it is the animals of that area that feed.
The sound. If you get into a stork area, you may hear a croaking sound. It is a sound they make with their beaks during the breeding season. I was lucky enough to hear several of them emit that sound, which is very funny and tender, so that they were pecking at a trochus.
- Me encontraba en la zona de Quinta do conde en Portugal, realizando senderismo por la zona donde abunda mucho la naturaleza y me encontré con nidos gigantesco en los árboles altos o incluso en estructuras eléctricas, Así que me acerque a observar que pájaro se trata y sorprendentemente son cigüeñas blancas, así es me encontré con estos pájaros famosos que entregan bebes, en las películas animadas. Así que con mucha curiosidad me acerqué y fotografíe estas majestuosas aves.
Lo primero que podemos saber de este animal a nivel visual es que se trata de un pájaro de un tamaño grande, incluso sus nidos son enormes. De lejos podemos distinguir que son de un gran tamaño. SOLO COLOCAN NIDOS EN ALTURAS estas aves no son tontas, hacen sus casas en la máxima altura posible como edificios árboles grandes y ahora en la actualidad están utilizando las cabrias eléctricas, también sabemos que sus nidos se encuentran en objetos urbanos y, sin embargo, no son retirados, el motivo es porque es una ave protegida y en Europa puedes tener una multa entre 5.000-200.000 si lo llegas a perjudicar. ¿Por qué son protegidas? Gracias a la urbanización del ser humano, su hábitat dejó de existir en varias partes del mundo, por lo cual el animal se tuvo que adaptar haciendo sus nidos en iglesias, edificios, puestos eléctricos, etc. También otro de los motivos es porque su población ha sido reducida a un nivel alarmante debido a choques en vuelo con líneas eléctricas y los riesgos derivados de campañas químicas antiplagas, apenas dejan a estas aves alguna posibilidad de supervivencia.
Son aves migratorias. Cuando llega el invierno, estas amigas vuelan a África Oriental para escapar del frío; sin embargo, por causa del calentamiento global, algunas de ellas se quedan en el país porque la temperatura no les afecta muchos años atrás.
Alimentación Como muchos pájaros, nuestro amigo se alimenta de insectos como lombrices, saltamontes, pero su alimentación es variada porque también comen peses, ranas, crustáceos y culebras, es normal, ya que el hábitat de ellas suele ser en zonas pantanosas por lo cual son los animales de esa zona que se alimentan.
Su sonido. Se llegan a entrar en una zona de cigüeñas, puede que escuches un crotoreo. Es un sonido que emiten con sus picos en la época de reproducción. Tuve la suerte de escuchar a varios de ellos emitir ese sonido, que es muy gracioso y tierno, para que estuvieran picoteando un troco.
