Friedazilla - Trouble at the farm (LMAC 62)

in Let's Make a Collage4 years ago (edited)

Hello Hivians,

I am really happy to have found time to attend LMAC again. While making collages is very time consuming, it's all the more fun. So this time too! I like to spend a long time doing creative things.
@shaka once again provided a great photo this round, which didn't take long to inspire me for a collage.

I'm sorry, but this time too, I have to tell you a story first. Not because I would be worried no one else would understand my collage without it. No, the story is once again just an integral part. :-)
Just keep scrolling if you want to read the story from the collage itself.

Once upon a time there was a farm. A farmer lived there with his wife, seven horses and five dogs.
The youngest dog was called Swifty, a small, but very agile, dreamy and fun-loving dog. Day in and day out he played with the horses, with the birds that ate the seeds in the fields, with the butterflies in the garden. Oh, he loved the way the butterflies danced on his nose. And they loved him, because he was constantly sniffing the flower beds, his nose was often fully covered in flower nectar.

The farmer, a hardworking and disciplined man, didn't like Swifty that much. It bothered him that Swifty was such a clumsy guy and that he often didn't pay attention to his surroundings while playing.

Once the farmer went into the stable to fetch eggs. After he was done, he put the eggs next to the bench in front of the house to take a short rest. Swifty saw the farmer sitting there and wanted to greet him.
So Swifty ran towards the farmer as if stung by a tarantula. Shortly before reaching the farmer, however, he knocked over the eggs. The farmer never forgave him for that.

On a sunny day the farmer decided to repaint the paddock fence. He got a bucket of paint and a paintbrush from the tool shed and made his way to the paddock.
Swifty, wanting to know what was going on, ran after him.

"What do you have in your hands?" Swifty asked the farmer.
The farmer crooked his thick beard cleared his throat and said, "This is not for dogs. Go play somewhere else!"
Swifty replied sadly, "... but I just want to know ..."

"NO !!! I won't say it again, go play somewhere else!"

Swifty followed the farmer in silence a short distance away.

When they arrived to the paddock, the farmer put the bucket of paint on the ground beside him.
Swifty noticed the bucket and sniffed it from top to bottom. The interesting thing seemed to be in the bucket, however, which caused his cuddly olfactory bulb to keep moving up to the edge of the bucket. But he unfortunately was much too small to see inside the bucket. So he stood on his hind legs and and put his front legs against the upper edge of the bucket ...

*Rattle* *Splash*
... the bucket was overturned, the paint was running out. Suddenly Swifty was standing in the middle of a puddle of pink paint.
Of course he wanted to apologize immediately for his mishap and so hopped whimpering up the farmer's legs.

The farmer was already angry that the paint had poured out. The fact that Swifty messed up the farmer's pants with paint that he had all over his body made him extremely angry.

With a loud shout he ran into the stable and shouted "WHERE'S MY BAT? I WILL SEND THIS LITTLE DEVIL BACK TO HELL!".
When the other dogs and the farmer's wife noticed what was going on, they all ran to the scene.
Swifty's mother was very afraid for her son. Because she knew how angry the farmer could be when he lost his temper.

In desperation, Swifty's mother howled a song known among dogs as "Friedazilla's Entreaty" to call Friedazilla for help.
But will Friedazilla make it in time?

"Ah, found it. Now I'm going to get this little devil!", he roared across the farm and then trampled towards Swifty, who was not far from the scene of the accident.

Just as he was about to swing the bat to hit poor Swifty ...

The collage

LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage". Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.

This is my contribution to the LMAC Contest Round 62.

Materials

For this collage I had to keep track of exactly how many material sources I used. I think there were many this time. ^^
I got a few of these sources from Pixabay and Pexcels. But I made some image elements myself (procedurally generated and / or modeled).
The materials I used are listed below.

Tools I used

  • Gimp 2.10.20 for all of the image manipulation works.
  • Inkscape for creating the "Howling" banner (to the left in the collage).
  • Blender 2.91 for all of the 3D modelling and posing works.

@shaka's template photo

This beautiful photo was made available and taken by our admin for round 62. It is the starting point for visual editing for this round, according to LMAC rules.

Friedazilla's Entreaty

You know we have a writing community here: theinkwell. You really should write stories. This is just delightful. Talk about a satisfying ending :))

Thank you for reviving Friedazilla. We need our superheroes. Your collage is perfect. The story and the collage are integral to each other, you are correct. It's a blended art, a distinct genre. Picture writing? I don't know.

How delightful can this post get? :)

Of course the art is great, but the concept is even better. I had great fun reading/viewing.

Good luck with this wonderful, warm-hearted, human/dog, tale/collage.

one.BTW, have you ever read posts by @chriddi about her dog Max? She posted on Steemit. Here's Max was a rescue dog with whom @chriddi formed a great relationship.

It makes me very happy to read these praising words. Thank you very much for that and also many thanks for the Tip(s). :-)

You know we have a writing community here: theinkwell. ...

Yes, I often found posts of this community in my PeakD search results.

You really should write stories.

I thought I was already doing it. xD
The truth is, I haven't dared to participate there yet. From what I've read from theinkwell, it seems to be on much higher level than the stories I write for my humble collages.

BTW, have you ever read posts by @chriddi about her dog Max?

Thank you for the great reading tip. :-)

I upvoted my own comment last night instead of yours and went to bed in frustration :)
Writing is scary for me, because it is personal. I feel less exposed when I make a collage, so I hold back from sharing my writing. I understand your hesitancy. Write where and when it pleases you. Doing it is the good part.

See you this week I hope in LMAC. I had an immediate inspiration when I saw that picture. Can I do it?? Time will tell.

A great story that makes the collage special. I was happy to see Friedazilla answered the song.:)

Thank you very much! :-)

Greetings friend what a good collage apart from that a great story of a puppy who loved his master very much. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks a lot. :-)

Quite spectacular both the story and the collage! I wonder the limit of the dedication that had been into this post.

Thank you, friend! :-)

I wonder the limit of the dedication that had been into this post.

It is probably the same with art as with food. Not everyone likes everything that has been served. xD

Well said my friend! 👏👏👏

I love Friedazilla, dog defender! Some of the best people I have ever met are dogs.
My dog lost two fangs defending me. She is my Friedezilla. Swifty is absolutely beautiful and perfect.
I understand what you are saying about the stories because usually my process is the same: I have always thought that I do not draw but illustrate. No image comes to me without a story. Sometimes it may not be very defined, but there is always something being told, even if it is on a very metaphorical level.
I've read your illustrated stories in your collages and you always bring out a spark of humor or irony. You added tenderness to your dog story this time.
A big hug, maestro!

Thank you! :-)

Some of the best people I have ever met are dogs.

I feel the same way. These four-legged friends do not even have morals, religion or knowledge of the law. Nevertheless, they are loyal to us and often know what is fair.
If humans were a bit like dogs, this hellish planet might be a little more comfortable.

My dog lost two fangs defending me. She is my Friedezilla.

I'm glad you have your very own Friedazilla. And I hope your dog is healthy again! They always suffer so bravely and quietly when they are in pain. :-(

It's a lot easier that way, isn't it?
When you look at the visual as a type of language and when you additionally assume that the picture is supposed to tell a story, the approach is clear.
We just have to express the story on the stage of the canvas. And with a story we also have a good concept/script. The great thing is that you develop your own visual dialect over time. In general, it's so absolutely great that an artist develop by doing art. Strategies, working methods and workflow, expression, ways of thinking ...
I'm happy you do it that way too. This makes your pictures speak and I love speaking art. :-D

Thanks for the hug. Please feel hugged too! :-)

For your peace of mind, my Friedezilla, Rita, is well and happy. She is a little older and has gray hair in her ears. The episode of the assault happened years ago, fortunately.
I love art and drawing since I can remember. However, in my environment scientific and technical training was more encouraged and art was seen as a hobby and this circumstance has made me think a lot about my own process and about art in general, helped by the perspective in which I do have formal studies, which is literature. I think people are storytellers, I think our history is represented in what we do, but artists, even amateurs, also represent their thoughts about what they do. I see that story in tru brush mud with so much care, or in the computer screen of your collage of the scientist and the mermaid, I see that story in the humorous look, but above all, in the work of light that is made with an artist's sensibility.
Yes, there are stories and meta-stories. It is a pleasure and a privilege to read yours.
Un abrazo enorme para ti.Dear @quantum, how warm your words are.

Oh, Rita is a fine name and so true for your little saviour. It has the meaning of "Pearl" ("Perle" in Old High German. Short form of Margherite.) as you probably know.

I think people are storytellers...

I have no doubt that it is fact. We have such a large memetic community memory that has always spread and still spreads through storytelling. It seems in our genes to tell stories to one another.

... I see that story in tru brush mud with so much care...I see that story in the humorous look, but above all, in the work of light that is made with an artist's sensibility...

I am delighted and very thankful that you pay attention to such details in my collages.
Often I set them more or less instinctively, even if I personally value expression. But they are probably the intimate side of the collages. An access to the soul.

So I also like to look at the details in pictures and collages of other artists and am happy to learn so much about their souls.
It's always my second look that is focused on the details after the scene has taken effect for the first time. Then the respective scene looks completely different.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to read yours.

Tooooo much... xD ... turned redblush. :-D :-)

hahaha... I understand the blush. A very dear teacher (a second father to me) told me that I did not know how to accept flattery and that I should always enjoy the flattery I was given today because I did not know what would happen tomorrow! He was a man with a very acidic sense of humor, of course! hahaha...
Seriously, your reflection on art has left me thinking, thinking... It's good to have the opportunity to meet and create accompanied by so much energy. A hug. See you in the next round!
