I intended to make a snail some castle instead of his house, actually, upgrading his house with castle so the first step was to find amusing snail photo.
- After just few minutes I found really really nice photo of a snail with a house I really liked, after my failed try of the landscape, this was really refreshing.
A little for the change I'll combine my workflow with finding the right photos. I think I'm going to explain my further workflows this way as it's more natural, it follows the actual procedure I was going through while designing this one. It's all about the improvement at the end.
I'm going to explain all 3 simultaneously: The first photo is just the mask I've done from the original photo. Played with transform tool (size and rotation) until I matched the element of castle with snail's house well. Used soft brush with reduced opacity to make a nice transition that's not very noticeable.
After that, probably my favourite technique comes next - Burn & Dodge - the technique I explained in a little more detail in my TORNADO PHOTO MANIPULATION. It's the technique which is great in simulation of real life shading and lighting. That's still the best way for me to match 2 different photos and their light sources.
I had to tweak "Colors" with Color Balance Adjustment Layera little bit as well.
I was pretty much satisfied with the result because I really allowed myself some time to do it the way it should be done, slowly and precisely. But yet, I wanted one more character in the composition, because it will automatically get more dynamic and amusing. I opted for white dove - making nice contrast from the snail and is very beautiful on its own.
Perception is by no means realistic, but I made it on the purpose. It's my right on artistic freedom I guess :)
The last tweak and work was to make the whole composition more tempting to the eye by adding particles and doing a neat Color Correction.
- Take a look of my recent Post. For a change, it’s not about graphic design but spending time in nature and restarting my mind The Pure Beauty of Blooming Nature Followed by Rare & Extreme Weather Change
Hi,
in love with your collages, your technique and imagination.
Greetings.
Hey Eve! I'm very glad you liked my work in here. I'm doing my best to have quality content in and it's nice seeing someone noticed your effort. Cool to have you on the Hive 💚
Que hermosa composicion y montaje te quedo magnifico y es super hermoso =D!
Hello @tonac Lack of privacy is surely an issue. Home on wheels. Well, I thought he already had one, but apparently he's outgrown his. Sometimes you just need more room. I'm sure he can't fit all his gaming supplies in that small shell.
I love your idea. Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest.
Take care.
Haha, a good one 😄
Thank you for nice wishes and thanks for checking it out. You too 💚
This is awesome! Very fine work.
There was a giant snail in the movie that I watched yesterday, my post tonight is going to be about that actually.
I feel like you should be listening to this EP while looking at this photo manipulation of yours.
Thank you brother.
Hahaha this is regular snailception. Will check it out for sure, feel free to tag me somewhere in the comments so I can cast an eye on it when it's done.
Totally agree with @daltono , what a great entry and i love the fact that the house is also attractive to the love dove hhahaha

Wow, you have done it so nicely. Love it.
Thank you very much, I'm happy you did :)
Hello Tonac,
Your work shows skills and creativity. Also, the castle shell is a great idea.
I really like your collage.
Not quite... Only my residence would be of a different kind. xD
A small hut in the forest next to a small creek and the neighbors should live several kilometers away. *YEARN*
That's the spirit! Every social media I got is full of green nature picture with eco architecture. That's my kryptonite.
This one is definitely crucial 😂
Cool combination :)
Thanks man 😎
Hi @tonac,
Talk about skills: you have crazy, scary skills :)) over the top, and an imagination to go with it. I've seen a turtle with the world on its back, but a snail is much better. The humble snail, elevated. And the dove does add perfect contrast. I don't know why that's true, but this is my instinctive response.
That picture makes us look twice, and thrice.
Good luck in the contest!
I just get that little amazing feeling while and after reading comments like this one. Indirectly, you're saying my effort and "research" wasn't wasted. That kind of engagement is really a glue to this community and that's what I adore.
Really glad you liked it and thank you 😊
