Value-Based Motivation

in Project HOPE4 years ago

Every company or organization has as a priority to maintain or increase efficiently a good level of production, this can be achieved with a workforce motivated to succeed, and when I speak of motivated workforce I do not mean only good remuneration, because, in my view, this is not as relevant as other elements.

Some treat money as the first motivating factor for an efficient workforce, but this is not entirely true. Experience has even shown me that those who work for money will always be conditioning their work performance.

TEAM WORK

I have had the good fortune to experience the functioning of a work team, however I would not like this publication to deal with my view of situations, but it is relevant to point out the working behavior of those who do not receive a good salary and yet maintain their enthusiasm and commitment to keep their functions or management organized as a team.

As you know, Venezuela is experiencing a period of calamity for those who depend on a salary (which is ranging from a minimum of 6 or 7 dollars to a maximum of 15 dollars per month in the nation's oil company, not at all normal for a country rich in natural resources), which has generated a stampede of qualified labor towards other horizons, however, many others have decided to stay in spite of the poor remuneration. I have been a guarantor that a large group of workers still show up at the workplaces at the required time and with the will to fulfill their duties in an optimal way, even during quarantine hours.

WORKING VALUES

All this led me to the need to know a little bit about the point of view of those who I consider have been keeping up their usual pace of work. In total, there were 15 highly experienced workers to whom I asked four fundamental questions.

1.- Is the salary earned by your work satisfactory?
Yes: 0 %.
No: 100%.

2.- What is the main reason for your constant compliance with your work duties?
a) Work Team: 27%.
b) Personal Commitment: 40
(c) Hope for improvement: 20 per cent
(d) No other alternatives: 13 per cent

3.- Are you forced to attend your workplaces?
Yes: 0%
No: 100%.

4.- Would you like to go to another company?
Yes: 13%
No: 87%.

In general, the workers who attend their workplace at the oil company do not give primary importance to salary in order to remain active and/or available for the company. 27% of the workers assure that they are happy to work in the work environment that they currently find themselves in, the understanding between the supervisor and other colleagues is vital in the decision to continue to carry out activities efficiently. On the other hand, for 40% of those interviewed, their commitment as a worker goes beyond a salary, the status and what the company means to the nation is a reason to remain consciously active, regardless of even political preferences, this group of workers say they feel grateful for what they have achieved over the years in the company and it is not fair that they are left aside in difficult times.

Another 20% assure that conditions will change and that they want to be there still for when this happens, for this, situations come and go, but it is necessary to continue working so that the situation of the company does not get worse. Finally, 13% keep working faithfully so as not to lose the rhythm of their work, but in order to look for new opportunities for growth, where there are more opportunities and better salaries, they assure that they feel committed to their functions but need to improve their living conditions.

In short, according to these results, the work environment and personal commitment play an important role to have a team that leads to the achievement of the objectives of any company, and that a good salary would only be the incentive to thank the dedication and perseverance of each worker.

A lot of Companies do now understand the value of Employee Motivation, just not through the Salary, but through other engagement initiatives. Majority of people also leave their jobs for another one due to either people issues or environment issues, which are now the key factors to deal with for the Companies

That is, without a doubt, these values represent an opportunity for the resurgence of productivity in these difficult times. I am not talking about exploitation, but rather about the consideration and commitment that employees are having in their workplace.

Relatively speaking, it is being seen as an ideal marital relationship where support will be on both sides in good times and bad.

Thank you for visiting my post dear @nainaztengra

I think that especially after the pandemic that the world is experiencing, companies will have to review many of their concepts to raise both their production levels and employee satisfaction.
