RE: Coronavirus - why community is more important now than ever

in Project HOPE5 years ago

Dear @awah

This virus indeed turned many peoples lifes upside down. However the worst is yet to come. I would expect that within 2-3 months wave of people being fired from their jobs and companies closing down will boom.

The idea is that if different countries can slow the virus and it impacts us over a longer period of time, the pressure will be less on the health services and hopefully, therefore, we can reduce the overall impact by not running out of vital life-saving care.

That surely make sense.

I wonder how long it will take before all those doctor and nurses will start breaking down mentally. Amount of pain and sadness they will experience in upcoming weeks can be devastating. Seriously those people are HEROs.

So please, this is where community can really make a difference. Think about the poor and see how you can assist them

I'm personally waiting for full body protective suit (which will hopefully come in this week) and I'm planning helping (once a week) to few of my neighbours (old people mostly) to get food and water supplies. And on daily basis I will tell them that if they need to throw rubbish into the bin - then I will ask them to leave this trash in front of their door and I will check all floors once a day.

Hope I'm not going to risk my own life. But I will do my best to protect myself and spray with 70% alcohol all suit whenever I'm back from shopping.

Have a great monday buddy,
Yours, Piotr
