Desperate times and economic unrest often give birth to amazing things. You might be asking yourself, what is the person saying but I will explain a few things to you in this post.
Currently the world is passing through a global unrest and this is caused by a pandemic. Although a lot of people have seen this as a bad thing which I could say it is bad as lots of people have lost their jobs and loved ones to this pandemic but one thing I want to draw our attention to is the amazing technological improvement that is happening now but before then, let me take you as far back as the World War 2.
After the World War 2, two super powers (the United State and the Soviet Union) started a tussle for who will become the world’s superpower. This two super powers the USSR and the US had growing technology and could boast of missiles that could stay within the earth atmosphere before hitting their target from a distance. Do not forget that when two nations are fighting to become the one world super power, they will attack each other but the problem with this two countries was distance. The two countries were about 7800KM apart, which means if the countries will have to use a missile strike on themselves, they will need to improve on their technology. The USSR then invented the intercontinental ballistic Missile (ICBM) and lunched it first test in 15 may 1957. This missile was intended to go into the sky very far before hitting it target in a projectile motion but to their surprise, the missile went as far as earth sub orbital space and was able to hit its target at the other end without its target knowing. This same missile was used to send the first artificial satellite the Sputnik into earth orbit.
The satellite caused a lot of panic as people thought the USSR were up to something disastrous. This made the United States to begin researches which gave birth to two organization NASA and DARPA. This was an event that brought human civilization to space. Thanks to the World War 2 and the fight for supremacy, led to the USSR sending the first artificial satellite which gave rise to the space race and that has brought modern civilization. Thanks to the satellites a lot of things have been achievable like the use of GPS, ability to view the earth and other space bodies, and thanks to DARPA, internet was created.
What technological advancement has come with the Pandemic?
The pandemic might have caused a lot of people pain but it has allowed the government invest in biotechnology. Before the pandemic, it wasn’t easy to identify sick people immediately but recently, Alibaba said that its AI can identify sick people and people with the coronavirus within 15 seconds by just scanning through a chest. Bluedot AI was also able to identify that there were pneumonia or flu virus like cases happening in Wuhan, China before the WHO discovered it.
Previously, it took about 4 years for a vaccine to be developed and approved but due to the COVID-19 virus, scientist are making research and making sure that vaccines are ready 10 to 20 times faster than the actual 4 years. The use of RNA vaccination as vaccine is being developed. , although it has not been tested before but existed, it has been considered for testing now due to the virus. In the future, the world is becoming prepared for any other pandemic and there is going to improvement in biotechnology.
You are absolutely right that this is one of the good things that the pandemic has left, that they finally care about making updates, especially in the area of health, if there is no pandemic they do nothing to improve the diagnostic tools, it is sad but it is so. And not only that, but the improvements in terms of patient care and emergency rooms, ICU, etc.

Normally in crises, things do turn bad and countless unfortunate cases occur, yet in the midst of the crises, opportunity arises for some people too. During this pandemic, so many slid into blockchain and so many other online investments and it is working out fine.
