- What is the most important goal Of CIA in context to Communication??
- What is the impact of Integrity and availability on an organization, Military and bank??
I hope i would get some response from my fellow Hopians :)
Following this, i had a pretty good response from one my friends, @joebrochin:
I don't think one is more important than the other, but security personnel often forget about the availability when implementing security practices and can often time, through overly zealous, but well-intentioned actions, hinder availability.
For organizations that require near real-time information that is accurate and trusted, Integrity and Availability are key to success, and sometimes means the difference between life and death.
So here will be the answers that i have prepared for this!
Question: 1
What is the most important goal Of CIA in context to Communication?

The CIA is an abbreviation of Confidentiality, Integrity and availability. When it comes to Information security, All the three factors are dependent upon each other. If any one of the factors is left behind unsecured, the whole information can b easily hacked or misused, Data can be changed and loopholes could be created that would destroy the future working of the organization!
In context to communication, Integrity and Confidentiality without a doubt play their major roles but for me, the most important among the CIA is AVALIABILITY. The availability not only means the availability of the individuals communication to each other. It is the availability of the servers, routers, networks, protocols, the correct and verified working of the encryption and decryption algorithms too!
Even if one can maintain the complete code and properly executed Integration and confidentiality, the unavailability of the servers or the algorithms working behind, can destroy the whole course of the organization. The unavailability of the hardware can cause this much, then think of what happens when the individuals themselves are unavailable. If no communication takes place, the whole system would be down. Information would be stuck between the servers and no actions would be taking place. Hence, if communication fails, CIA fails!
Anyways, Even if one the CIA fails, it is referred to as the failure of the CIA system!

What is the impact of Integrity and availability on an organization, Military and bank?
Impact On Organizations!

If an organization is facing lack of integration and availability, this will have a major impact on the growth of the organization's growth. Bring it to mind that if the integrity of the data or the format of the information is changed, there can be a nightmare for the organization. Because data is the most significant thing for any organization in order to maintain its activities whether inside the organization or outside. Now consider the availability, as discussed above, if the software requirements are not available, the hardware is not available or the concerned authorities, this will shut the organization at once!
Impact on Military

The most important and significant part of military is said to be information. Since the military information is secured with heavy encryption and decryption algorithms, the information is thus very secure. But if the enemy is some how able to penetrate into the system and steal the information, data integration gets disturbed and CIA fails. Even a little leak of information from your army can mislead you and allow the enemy to take your governing seat. Thus Data integrity and availability are very important aspects of CIA for Military and have a greater impact on the functioning.
Impact On Banking

Integrity and Availability both are the key aspects of Banking. Integrity helps keep track of the data and availability helps maintain that data. Therefore both of these are equally important in the banking section.

I have known for some time that information management is elementary. Many battles have been won with good information management, however, security remains crucial today. Considering that a lot of data is stored on drives, in the cloud, on pen drives, access to this must be restricted as much as possible.
Yes exactly, with the emerging use of technology, data security also needs to be at the most advanced level.

Yes, finding the right balance in the CIA triad is the challenge. Ultimately, if the consumer of the IT services can't use it, then all the security in the world is for not. Worse yet, it forces some users to bypass IT altogether with "shadow IT" so they can get work done. This itself adds even more vulnerabilities to the network. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't.
