Hive. The Home Of Some Terrific Dapps

When I think of the short amount of time that the Hive blockchain has been in existence, I am amazed at just how quickly some many different have Dapps have set up business. Hive is a dynamic and growing ecosystem with varying points of entry. The number of use cases is very impressive and showcases the talents of the community of developers that make Hive a unique port of call on the web.

Hive is more than just blogginng and earning crypto.

Hive is quickly becoming a hub that people rely on for business, learning, entertainment, research and news. The Hive team has put in an enormous amount of effort to ensure that the platform is approachable for Dapp developers and an overall good experience for the Hive community at large.

I personally think that there is great potential in Hive becoming a foundation whereby people can launch and grow businesses. Just thinking back on the early days of YouTube reminds me of normal everyday people creating videos on all manner of subjects and no one really took them too seriously. But, at some point, the videos began to gain audiences and people began to monetize their content. And a number of people went on to establish complete businesses by creating content and have done quite well for themselves as a result.

Dapps supporting video benefit creators directly. In other words, there is no corporate YouTube types to take a significant cut from the creator's revenue stream. Moreover, creators maintain exclusive rights to their productions.

There are other use cases besides video creation but I thought that this was one of the best examples I could offer to make a point about the potential for content creators.

There Are A Growing Number of Dapps

Here is a quick list of some Dapps supported by Hive. They are not ranked in any particular order.

Daaps I Personally Find The Most Useful

The Dapps I find most useful at the moment include PeakD, Travelfeed and D.Buzz. In the case of PeakD, in my opinion, the UI and feature set is unmatched in terms of polish and features. You have acccess to all of the basic information you'll likely need on a daily basis but can really drill down into finer details and stats if you see fit. Two features that I really like is the ability to save drafts and to schedule posts for specific dates.

Travelfeed has what I find to be the most attractive layout for viewing travel posts. The dashboard feature shows information at a glance like number of posts rewards received and responses, etc. An integrated map shows the location being described but this feature is not availlable when viewing outside of Travelfeed. And Travelfeed offers a nice set of tools that help while composing posts.

D.Buzz is a new kid on the block —pun intended, that has a simple and easy to use interface. Like Twttter, posts are limited to a set number of characters. This encourages posters to say more with fewer words. I personally find D.Buzz convenient for making flash post on breaking news items.

Again, it is most impressive how rapidly the Hive ecosystem has grown in such a short span of time. In the end, the basic Jane and Joe won't care about all of the inner workings of Hive but will just want to have great experiences provided by top-notch Dapps.
