I agree that sex helps the release of oxytocin, and this in turn generates pleasure, a sense of calmness among other things. But Cortisol does not, in fact, it is totally the opposite, Cortisol is the stress hormone, if Cortisol is elevated all the alarms of our body are turned on to keep us alert. We could not sleep with elevated Cortisol.
I can tell you that both hormones work inversely, when one goes up the other goes down, and vice versa. I know very well what I am talking about.Hello @menoski

Oh, you are correct, sex increases our oxytocin levels and reduces our cortisol levels. Yeah, this is it.
