Money as a symbol is important here, where we think more is better. It has become a symbol of power and an end in itself for those that have it, but currently relies on extractive value (e.g. minerals, gold, cloth) rather than creative, problem-solving, caring and knowledge based value, which are so important for societies to function. As a result it has also become divorced from the material reality it creates (i.e. from destruction, global destabilisation, and global elites who have it think they can buy their way out of this, but if they do it will be for a poor second choice.
