There skills schooling impacted on us unknowingly especially at institutions of higher learning. unfortunately this skills are not graded. This write seeks to highlight some of such skills. Therefore, the following are TEN things school taught me personally that were not graded:
1.Creativity: I remember being given assignments that are purely applied questions. I couldn`t find the answers anywhere, initially I taught they were out to stress me but I never knew that they were developing creativity in me. It train and stretched my mental capacity; developing my quantitative and verbal reasoning skills again.
2.People management: I was my class student representative; at times I often asked myself how on earth the school will put people from different cultural background under the same roof. I also say things like “how do these guys think?” especially when we argue on little things like scheduling a class or a hangout. Nevertheless, I learnt and develop people management skills unknowing. I am grateful for those opportunities now.
3.Emotional intelligence: The school system put me under a lot of pressure and I am sure the story is similar generally. Especially in developing countries, you battle inconsistent light and water yet you must meet up with your daily schedule timely. What about epileptic internet connections? Yet I manage all this stress to learn and acquire not only my degree but a vital skill to manage my emotions.
4.Time management: Before I got to school, I did not know how vital this was. Indeed the school taught me how to give attention to many task; allocating time schedule to them in order to achieve my goals. Schooling helped me to become clock sensitive and conscious; this is a vital skill in the world today.
5.Dealing with failure: Do anyone have the need to re-sit an examination while in school? The feeling of setbacks and rejections are fresh but in it all one came out of it learning how to manage failure and defeat. Indeed, schooling is beyond certificate.
