Marshall Bruce Mathers, better known as Eminem, was born in Kansas (United States) on October 17, 1974 (he is 48 years old).
Eminem dropped out of school at the age of 14, having repeated ninth grade three times. At that age, he became part of the duo Soul Intent, to debut in 1996 with the album "Infinite". It was followed by "Slim Shady LP".
His great style with the mic, his originality in writing lyrics and his commercial appeal due to the fact that he is white led him to be scouted by a prestigious producer in Los Angeles.
But it was undoubtedly Dr.Dre who made Eminem jump to fame and start his real career. It was Dr.Dre who reportedly found an Eminem demo in the garage of the head of the famous Interscope label and decided to sign him to his own label, Aftermath. He became the new prodigy of Aftermath Entertainment. Dr.Dre produced some songs of his second album, "Slim Shady LP", with which he managed to sweep the American charts reaching No. 1 and especially thanks to his single "My Name is...".
The problems would come little by little. The single "My name is..." would suppose a problem between Eminem and his mother, since in the song it is said "I just found out that my mother does more drugs than me". Debbie Mathers-Brigg would not keep quiet about this, and threatened her son with a lawsuit. With all this, Eminem ran out of patience and decided to give two interviews to important media, one for the prestigious online hip hop magazine The Source and another for Howard Stern's radio show, stating that his mother "was a bitch who didn't have a job or anything" and "that she always did drugs". These statements prompted threats of a lawsuit from his mother, with his lawyers claiming $1.6 billion in compensation for such moral humiliation.
At the end of 2004 Eminem reappears with a new album, entitled "Encore", a solo work of the world pop icon, an artist who transcends beyond the musical, an album produced by the legendary Dr. Dre and has the collaboration among others, 50 Cent.
Thanks
Have a great day
