And I Start with "Gasolina": Daddy Yankee's song that popularized reggaeton around the world

In 2004, Barrio Fino debuted, the Puerto Rican singer's third studio album. Not even 'DY' thought that his single about cars and nightclubs would be the gateway for the Puerto Rican genre to the rest of the world.
"It is a subject to which many people gave their own meaning, but when I say that 'she likes gasoline', it is that she likes to have fun, that she is a rebellious girl who lives by her own rules," said Daddy Yankee in an interview with Agency EFE in June 2017.

And it is that reggaetón arrived more than a decade ago from the hand of exponents such as Don Omar, Ivy Queen and Daddy Yankee and - as his detractors will lament - it showed that it is more than a passing fad.

One of his greatest hits, and the gateway for the Puerto Rican genre to the rest of the world, is "Gasolina" by Ramón Luis Ayala, better known as Daddy Yankee.

The singer, born in the Puerto Rican capital in 1977, met with Eddie Dee and Luny Tunes to record a song that emerged without great ambitions.

If Daddy Yankee already had two albums in his record history, these allowed him to have a reputation in Puerto Rico, but it hardly sounded outside the island.

Simultaneously, the duo formed by Francisco Saldaña and Víctor Cabrera under the name Luny Tunes, left their jobs as cooks and dishwashers in a restaurant in Boston to pursue their dream of producing music. The chosen place was the cradle of reggaetón.

The Dominicans produced the album Más Flow (2003) with singers such as "Aventura" performed by Wisin y Yandel, "Entre tú y yo" with the voice of Don Omar and "Cójela que va sin jockey" with Daddy Yankee.
