Biography
An accomplished, talented and versatile drummer and performer, Eldon has prepared and positioned to be a professional musician since he was 13-years-old.
Hailing from a musical family (The Art Syms Duo, a popular 1950’s Jazz/Blues recording group featuring his uncle), Eldon was naturally exposed to the music business. Using those initial experiences as an inspiration, Eldon made a decision to make a lifetime commitment to perfecting his skill. Some of his other heavy influences include James Brown, George Clinton, Earth Wind and Fire, the Beatles, Kiss and Prince.
A student of New Jersey City State College, Eldon studied under the direction and tutelage of Nick Cerruto, one of music’s most accomplished percussionist. This training led to his touring of Amsterdam, East and West Germany in 1992. Eldon has since continued his involvement in a variety of projects where he displayed his versatility. Through drumming, writing, arranging and producing, he has worked with many well-known artists of different musical genres.
This list includes Melvin Sparks (Blues), Ben E. King (R&B), Oran “Juice” Jones (Urban Contemporary), The Revelators (Gospel), Wally Richardson (Jazz) and Hal Daniels (Jazz). Eldon has recorded as a studio musician and has appeared with an assortment of groups in New York City’s most popular venues. Apollo Theater, the Blue Note, and the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
In sum, Eldon Simms has attained a level of seasoned artistic talent that runs broad and deep. He has definitely “paid his dues”. Eldon brings all of the above experiences to bear on any performances (international and national), studio engagements or projects that he may participate in, while maintaining technical expertise and a professional demeanor at all times.

Eldon E. Simms is a talented man that is about to revitalize the music scene with
live performances featuring progressive jazz, well-known soul and R&B hits, original
works, and studio recordings. His new release I'm Flyin' produced by Leigh Crizoe and Eldon Captures todays sound with a nosstalgic touch of a super humable melody line. The song was penned by veteran writer/producer Leigh Crizoe. Benny Benack III is featured on trumpet, and delivers a superb solo, along with expertly handled fills in just the right places.
Eldon has performed throughout the Tri-state area at conferences, jam sessions, drum clinics, clubs and popular venues. He holds his own with impressive individual performances
with legends such as Ben E. King and Oran “Juice” Jones to Melvin Sparks and Wally Richardson. Friday Night’s a Waste of Time and Under the Table, two original tunes played by Eldon E. Simms, have both served
as instrumental themes for top-rated radio and television broadcasts in New York. The band is currently accepting reservations/bookings for post Covid gigs.
