Kirchhoff's prelude to the choral "Wenn wir in höchsten Nöthen sein" is a peculiar piece. The choral meody is played unisono on the manuals and the pedal. Between each phrase of the melody Kitchhoff writes some virtuaosic passage work. The result is rather frivolous and not what you might expect to hear in conjunction to a text that picture the meaning of God for those in utmost need.
The recording is from before my skating accident, though the pedal part is not too difiicult or too fast, so perhaps I could play this one again.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Schnittger organ in the St. Martini-kerk, Groningen (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/groningen-st-martini.html).
