My people this is one of the most classic songs in the world, a song that has passed from generations through time, enjoy this editorial and especially the song.
Disc:Point Of Know Return.
Year:1977.
One of the most famous ballads ever. Known by the general public for its use in commercials and its systematic programming on the radio over the years, “Dust In The Wind” was nevertheless a very different song from what Kansas was used to until “Point Of Know Return”, one of their most famous albums precisely because of the inclusion of this kind of hit by accident.
Written by the guitarist of the American combo, Kerry Livgren, it was from the phrase “For All We Are Is Dust In The Wind” that he read in a book of Native American poetry, within a poem that spoke of the true material value of things and success, when the musician began to consider the idea of death and how sooner or later it would eventually catch up with him like any other being.
At the time, Livgren was learning to play acoustic guitar, and while practicing some chords at home his wife liked those simple but soulful notes that lead into the song. “Point Of Know Return” was practically already recorded by then, and Livgren in particular had no intention of using this song, but when his band mates heard him play it, they insisted on including it on the album even though that acoustic sound was unlike anything the band had ever recorded before.
The guitar harmony and the Indian philosophy of the poem were united in one and thus was born “Dust In The Wind”, one of the most heartfelt and beautiful slow songs in memory and the biggest hit of Kansas' career, which undoubtedly, and despite other wonders of their songbook, will always be related to this excellent and melodic harmony.
Friends I hope you like this song as much as I do, which is one of the most legendary songs of rock and the world since it is among the pop culture, movies, commercials, novels, etc etc etc.. So with nothing more to say I'll see you in a new post and a thousand blessings to all.
