I just finished a 4.23km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:8ss !
Hello hello!
So, I've got a friend that does quite a lot of blogging, and is now interested in HIVE after I told her about it... and she's had a quick look. The thing is, I'm actually not sure how she can get an account. I know in the old days people could claim accounts if they had enough resource credits, but I don't actually know if that's still a thing or not.
If anyone has any information on who might have some spare accounts or know where people can get accounts, could you please let me know either in the comments or on discord?
So I've got down 34.53kms of my 50kms goal for April... and I'm pretty sore. We're also spending our free time trying to fence our remaining field for our little sheepie friends. We're so close but not quite finished yet, and I can't wait until it's done. It's rough on the body. It is good, honest, hard work that instantly shows progress... but yeah, my hamstrings and lower back are destroyed.
Like everyone, I hope the Steem price stays highish for the next 10 weeks or so... I'm powering down as quickly as possible and then spending it all on Splinterlands cards. This whole process now makes Sunday my favourite day... purchasing cards really is fun, and also totally stressful because I haven't played enough to know what cards all the top players are using.
Do people concentrate on one deck to push up the ladder.... or spread the love around to be able to complete the daily quests?
Last night we had take away for the first time in a month... and it was surprisingly stressful and probably not worth it. We had Thai food, and super delicious, but trying to separate the food from the containers without contaminating everything was ridiculously awkward.
Hope everyone is well! Let me know how I can organise an account for my friend... thank you!

I've claimed plenty of account tokens, so I can create an account if that helps. But your friend will probably want to change the master password then. I wish there was a way to transfer account tokens to another user. That would make the process of setting up an account easier.
Yep.
Haha, maybe now that we have the proposal system now it might be tackled in the near future...
Yes, agreed. I have 600+ on both chains; but they're too stuck to me. The new owner needs to change the recovery account and their key.
Which is honestly a bit much for someone who might not understand the whole key concept straight away. Even crypto people that have used hard wallets still might be a bit confused about the range of different keys required for this blockchain.
Oh, wait, as per Soyrosa's comment below... does https://hiveinvite.com/public.html work for you in this way?
I haven't used that one, despite seeing it mentioned a few times. I'll take a closer look.
Ahhhh, I think this is perfect. It might take a little bit for my friend to understand different apps offering accounts, but I'm sure she'll get there. She's been in the crypto world for a while.
At a quick glance it seems like the eSteem option seems the least painful for a newbie.
Thanks so much for this Nate!
Hi everyone! I'm the friend and I'm here, first day on Hive! Thank you so much to everyone that helped, this is an amazing community! ;) And thank you so much @aussieninja for telling me about Hive!
Glad you got the help needed @pattyalexx. If you or @aussieninja need any accounts in the future, please feel free to let me know. I have a number of them ...
Thank you! First day and loving how everyone here is so helpful, it is really motivating!
Thanks Rob! That's very kind of you. Slowly but surely we'll convince all our friends to come across...
Check out: https://signup.hive.io/ - afik @roelandp is updating this website and it shows all the ways to join and what the 'costs' are (sometimes just an e-mailadress). For example @pharesim's hiveinvite is super useful, here community members can donate their 'claimed accounts' for others to sign up with :-) https://hiveinvite.com/public.html You could even use your own RC's via https://hiveinvite.com/ to invite your friend yourself with the requirements you want that friend to sign up with.
Go get a new person on Hive! :D Cheers :-)
Thanks so much Rosanne, the hiveinvite definitely looks interesting and I've given my friend that URL to test out. I know she's definitely got Twitter and I'd be surprised if she didn't have Facebook as well.
I'm so pleased with the range of responses here. I was so expecting this post to be totally ignored, this has been great. Thank you!
Over halfway :D
I was pretty much doing the dailies on Splinterlands and that was it. Some people have been sweet and gifted me cards over time including summoners which is the only reason why I have some semi-decent one XD haven't bought any cards or played for a while though as it was seriously flakey for me after the shenanigans (it will probably be better now that I changed the api node on keychain). I was going to buy Splinterlands cards with what I'm powering down as well but ended up deciding to buy hive instead XD
The virus doesn't seem to like hot so if the takeaway was still hot you were probably fine. And even then nuking it and then washing your hands probably would have been okay XP
Yeah, I've often wondered if I'll regret spending my Steem on cards instead of Hive... but I find it pretty fun so I figure it's probably worth the price of admission. I'm not super sure how easy it will be to sell all my cards if I ever decide I don't want to play anymore... but the team seems pretty proactive in finding new markets so hopefully it's not really an issue.
That was the basis that we were going off... if the food and the containers got nuked and steaming we were probably good... but it definitely felt weird microwaving food that was already pretty hot, still, it's a new world out there.
LoL XD
Theoretically the cards that aren't being produced anymore should be more valuable down the line but I don't know or care how these things work, I just play with the cards >_>
Theoretically yes, as long as people still want those cards.. but if no one wants to play the game or collect the cards... or newer cards are more interesting, fun or powerful then that may not apply.
When I am playing I'm usually on the lookout for older cards to upgrade mine and statistically I'm unlikely to be the only one (or the only completionist ;D)
