I think whatever you do the main focus must be to remain active doing something. As soo as you stop the harder it will be to start up again and you will feel every sporting injury you have suffered trying to hold you back. know as I did this and have been slowly getting back into things after 4 years of very little fitness work. You have to listen to your body and why I reset my back every few months or if I cannot do it the chiro will.

Getting back into some sort of exercise program is the hardest part and I think that most people overdo this when they try it. The "zero to hero" people almost always fail when what they really should be doing is just something simple like switching to diet sodas and going for a walk for 30 minutes a day.
