I'd rather feel muscular than look it if I had to choose one or the other. 200-300 push-ups are a fantastic routine. That alone will provide you with a lot of growth, especially if done consistently. I was underweight most of my life, so I understand not wanting to lose even more weight. I have started eating a lot more and am now at a comfortable weight.
