Description from Strava: Look at that! You can tell the clocks have changed! Its barely gone past 5pm, and already its nearly dark. I've got about 4 months of running in darkness to put up with until the clocks go back forward in the Spring.

Lovely. Time to make sure my headtorch is charged each week, and I need to dig out all my reflective kit too. Some of my running tops and reflective, but my coat isn't... which means I have an assortment of reflective belts/straps/armbands.

In the Winter my routes become safer and more sensible, sticking to paths and whatnot, but I still have busy roads to cross, and its always better to be safe than sorry!

One of my safe routes is of course along the bypass, where I can generally run in peace, although there are no street lights, hence the headtorch. I went up and down here today, in what was meant to be a reasonably easy effort, while I work out how my hip is recovering (or not, as the case may be).

As it happend, takng the last 4 days as rest have helped. It took 4km before anything noticeable pain/soreness appeared, and even when it did, it felt very minor. There is still soemthing there, but I'm confident that with lighter training and and some stretching exercise will benefit it.

Gotta be hopeful I guess! I don't really want to stop completetly as A. I will lose me mind, and B. I think keeping active will help.

I just need to try to keep it sensible and 'little and often' will be key.

We'll see on that. I still have the physiotherapist booked in 2 weeks time to look out for, and will get a better idea of it when I get checked out.

Other than the hip niggle, the rest of me felt pretty damn good, legs moving well, plenty of energy etc... just a little annoying ache to sort out at the same time.

Tomorrow will be a rest day of course, and then another way little run on Wednesday (in the dark again) and I'll see how it goes

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
