Description from Strava: Saw my first butterfly of the year!

This photo wasn't taken today of by the way, I was working from home and looking out of the window into the garden, where there was an unmistakable flash of yellow... it is a Brimstone butterfly (Gonepteryx rhamni) and with both the bright colour and the large size, there is nothing else it can be. They are one of the earliest flying species here in the UK, and very much a sign that Spring is on the way.

The weather was gorgeous today, clear blue skies and highs of 17C, and I was eager to get outside as soon as I could to enjoy the sunshine. Its coming up to a busy time of year in work, getting ready for the end of year on 31st March. Its the only time we have to do overtime, and it does mean a potential for late finishes over the next 2 weeks.

Today wasn't too bad though, and by 5:15, we were able to finish and log out. I quickly got changed, and headed out into the sunshine. The route was the same standard bypass route as usual, an was an easy effort for 6km in just under 40 minutes. In hindsight I could've done with some shades or a hat or something, it was rather bright out there... in a nice way of course!

This evening was the 2nd run of the week, and it felt pretty good out. I want to say i'm now ready to get back to normal training again, but I don't want to tempt fate lol.

I did recently have a physio appointment on tuesday, and the therapist said that my injury has mostly gone now, and I agreed that its been much better recently. With that in mind, my monthly sessions are going to change from a focus on the injury, to a more general, maintenance type session. I do still want to keep going as I feel there is a benefit in keeping on top of any niggles to prevent issues in the future

I also quite enjoy the session too. It does help me to be in a better position to enjoy running, but getting a proper massage done actually feels really nice in its own right!

There's gonna be a rest day tomorrow, and then on Saturday morning I hope to get down to parkrun again... one of my goals was to get to parkrun at least once in each calendar month, and we are rapidly approaching the end of March. On Saturday afternoon my partner is coming from uni for a week, and it'll be nice to have a proper catch up

speaking of which... perhaps it would be prudent to tidy the house up a bit? I do have a habit of letting standards slip when she's not here!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

I've seen some yellow butterflies around too. It is feeling like spring lately. Enjoy your running. I should be at parkrun tomorrow. They were still asking for helpers today, but I think they almost have enough.

!BEER
