dannewton just finished a 10.69km run, that lasted for 65 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 860.0 calories.
Description from Strava: Well I was hoping for some rain to test out my waterproof jacket... and we had flippin' sleet, which is a mix between snow and rain if you didn't know.
I don't like sleet!
Are you complaining about the weather again Dan?
er...no...no... well... maybe a little bit!
Oh well, I'd asked for crap weather, and I'd got it, I might as get on with it. The run itself was the usual plod up the bypass and back. I left the house reasonably sharpish cos I was working from home today. I of course had the coat on, and this time I had the hood up from the beginning,
It was a stop/start affair to begin with as I needed to adjust the hood tighter so it sat still on my head, as the wind kept blowing it around. But other than that it felt ok, reasonably comfortable, and more importantly it felt like I could wear it for a long period of time.
I complained on the last run that it was noisy when the coat shifted around, and it was even noisier with the hood up... literally a FLUMP FLUMP FLUMP in time with each step. Pretty distracting to be honest! When I put my hands on my shoulders to stop the coat moving, the noise stopped, so I still reckon that when I have vest on top that the noise will not be so loud and annoying as it is at the moment lol.
At the halfway point the rain/sleet stopped, and I put the hood down. It was really noticeable how cold it was (with a windchill of -1C) so that shows I was pretty snug in the jacket. Also very noticeable was how quiet it was compared to when the hood was up.
I carried on plodding home... at about 8km I needed to pull the hood back up as the rain started again. But yes, happy with how well the coat performed. Now I can leave it to hang up and dry out
that includes the rain on the outside and the sweat on the inside!
Once it is dry I can then pack it neatly away and hope that I don't need to use it on race day!
Its all very well being confident that a waterproof coat will keep me dry(ish) and warm and protected from the elements, but I really hope that I don't need to wear it all. Instead, I hope to be able to enjoy the sunshine and at the very least complete it in the dry
Tomorrows run is scheduled as a gentle recovery run, but as its forecast to be cold and wet again, I may well give it a miss. I'm cutting my mileage down anyway as pat of the taper, so I think my next run will be Saturday, so I'll see you then!

I guess sleet is a better test element than rain . Like go big or go home right. And you managed a 20km in that! Pretty damn good 8f you ask me. When is your next race?

So much for wanting the rain.
Well done
It's good to know that the coat worked as you expected it to be bro. I'm not sure how harsh the snow can be since we don't experience it here but I'm sure it is way harsher than just rain.
