Happy weekend Hivers! It's Saturday again.Take a break! What's your weekend about?
I used to hike with my friends but it has been quite a while since we had our last hiked in Malaunay Mountain near Balantian kainannot to mentioned the times I scammed her into going densed forest, technical mountenous hikes decides to spare her precious time with me.(I chuckled😂) .They've been busy and our vacant schedules clashes, so recently, I always found myself hiking alone. Though there were lucky times too whenever @kellyani
This hiked is a little different this time. I had already planned this nature-healing-addiction even before my old friend asked, 'Let's go hiking on Saturday and I trust that you know where but not the difficult one.' I guess that he was kinda informing me rather than more of a suggestion. He sound so desperate but my heart overflows with gladness upon hearing that from him because being a university professor, he seldom find time to bond with our circles , he's as busy as bee, therefore I percieved he badly needed to recharge.
So I took him with me to a trail I discovered three weeks ago. It's more calming type of hike that does not require descent effort and fortunately with lots of descent view all along. This place is part of Palinpinon, Valencia. It is known that 65 percent of this town is mountenous and the weather is relatively cool, especially at higher elevations. The region has also the most critical watershed area of Negros Oriental, providing abundant drinking water to Valencia and its neighboring municipalities. Locals as well are supplied with unlimited water for free of charge. It's where you find many waterfalls also. and so is the electricity locals are getting a benifit for free because it has its own Geothermal power plantation. It's endowed with lots of natural resources. It was a morning hike and it was little foggy when we arrived the area. to ensure of cool air for sure my friend would survive this little challenge in he brought to himself. lol.
As soon as we parked our motorbike, I saw a face transformed into a happy countenance. He then grabbed his camera and happy as he took picture.
This is an old bridge made of cables, rope, planks and wooden slats. Over time, some of the slats and planks have rotted. You just have to watch out where to set your foot. Underneath is refreshing water flowing freely. Along with the sight of the mountains covered in dense trees, birds and crickets sound so healing for the soul. Nothing easier than feeling free in this paradise. He wanted to take his moment so I leave him alone and I headed to the foot of the hills and waited for him there.
Yellow beauties at the hill foot! Weeds or flowers? It's a matter of perception by the way.
Th beginning of his little challenge..so uphill that it made him wishes he didn't forgot to bring fixie dust so he would just magically reach the top. One thing I notice is this natural lanscape, tree roots that hold up the soil and formed as a stairway.
We couldn't get any panoramic view since this is not the the place that has highest peak but we do enjoyed the scenery, and even see few farmers living in the hills, their houses were made of light materials, I think coconut is their livelihood.
Badly stricken by typhoon Odette, as it is made of light materials and situated near the creek. Strong winds and flushflood had gotten it stripped off. That sight wasn't really pleasant. After an hour of hiked, we headed down to one of little tiny waterfalls.
I'm glad he was enjoying it, took photos and was refresh I know he rarely get this scenes because he 's cumbered with lots of studies and exams as he is taking his next Academic promotion for higher level in university. That was our simple hike but he best appreciated it.
We had our light meals in this resto situated near the sulfur vent.Simple native hut, made of bamboo and nipa. There were few cyclist when we arrived but then more people arriving a little later because this is a knows ' stop over' for tourists, cyclists. On top of good coffee service, they also have good food like goat stew one of their well know dish. It's a must-try, try it yourself. We were happy and satisfied, the scenes of natural Earth's beauty, the food and good conversation. We laughed so much as well, he's witty and humourous. Well, that's all about my weekend hike. I hope you indulge yourself whatever brings you happiness. Life is short to be boring! Remember the 3L's of life...
Live - every moment,
Laugh- every day,
Love- beyond words.
Have the nicest weekend everyone!
