RE: Not a hill climb, but I put in the 1 hour of cardio

It's good to monitor your heart rate while exercising. I don't know what type of Garmin watch you have, but mine (Vivoactive 5) can give me alerts at certain thresholds.
But I keep my heart rate screen open on my Garmin cycling navigation too.

Have you calculated your zones and your max heart rate too?
I've done a fitness test a couple of years ago that showed me mine, but you can do a rough calculation yourself too.

I have a vivoactive 4. I think :)

I'll look in and see if I can get alerts but unless it is audible, I wouldn't notice it anyway when I am really pushing up a hill.
