I just finished a 8.005km running that lasted about 0hh:33mm:47ss !
Not sure what else I can say, I missed 3rd place by one second. I was a little bitter about the fact but this is the first actual live running race I have done since August, and eternally greatful to the organisers to actually make the effort to put on this race, as so many others have decided it is too hard and cancelled instead.
But back to the race and if you didn't see my post yesterday, we had a cyclone hitting NZ this morning and this kinda made things a little wet and windy out on the course today. I opted for the 8km run, while @run.kirsty.run is booked to race the half marathons in the series. She had a great day and ran strong in the conditions.
I also had a really good day and pushed hard up the hills and was looking to try to make it into the top ten for the morning, so was surprised to be pushing the front runners early in the run. The final two kilometres were downhill and I am not sure why, but this is where I lost two positions. I obviously can't run as fast as the other guys did downhill and got overtaken on the last 100m...I clearly didn't want it as much as the other guy, so congrats to him.
Not sure how many more races we are going to be allowed to run in the coming weeks, so it was awesome to get out and do this one.

Still a good time, the guy in front of you probably won't feel that good about his result, second in his age category and just about beat and old codger!
