Description from Strava:
As I mentioned before there was no local parkrun yesterday due to flooding. I know some of the regulars went elsewhere, but I did not run. This week marks 20 years of parkrun with millions of people doing it now.
On Friday night we went to see comedian [Ben Elton]( in Stevenage. Some will remember him being big in the 80s. He is a prolific writer who brought us The Young Ones and Blackadder as well as books, musicals and plays. He is getting on now, but is still a powerful performer who can raise laughs. He covered some serious topics in his show too.
Yesterday we were shifting all the stuff off the lawn that we had to move whilst having the new patio done. That included some spare slabs that were heavy so I got a work-out.
Today I was back to running. It had been raining overnight, but was drying up as I went out. I did my big loop around the villages and it was nice conditions really. I saw a few people heading to Letchworth for the Standalone 10k event. I opted not to do it this year as I am just not feeling that great about my running and need to work on it more. It is also the weekend of the local steam fair, so I saw people heading to that too.
I did the long track across the fields and there was an abandoned car in the middle of one. It was all smashed up, so I guess it was joy-riders. I am not sure how they even got there as it is a long way from the roads and there are gates.
This was my longest run in a while and not particularly quick. Strava has a new 'AI' feature that they call Athlete Intelligence that gives you a review of your activity. It said some positive things to try and motivate me. I can see from the statistics how well I really did. These are one of the main reasons I use Strava and pay for extra features. I like numbers and graphs.
I will do my usual mention of the Hive social platform for any Strava people reading this. It offers an alternative to the corporate blogging platforms and can reward you.

Ah, thats a shame that your event was cancelled on the same weekend when everyone was celebrating the 20 years anniversary... I was surprised you didn't try to find a different event.
I think I remember that you did this event last year, are you still struggling with injury or is it a lack of confidence? Its still nice to take part in events even if the time might not be good as previous years.
As a runner who spends 99.9% of his runs on his own, I've decided I need to find some events to enter, just to feel like I'm part of a group, part of a shared experience. Its completely different when you've got crowds and other runners
I've got this lingering hip tendon issue that is holding me back and then I just had a cold. I'll keep doing parkrun anyway, but just did other stuff yesterday.
Keep going, you're smashing your training at the moment and getting stronger every day.
