This run helped steevc burn 528.0 calories.
@steevc just finished a 7.32km run, that lasted for 45 minutes.
Description from Strava:
I had intended to do a lunchtime run at work yesterday, but when I got to the changing rooms the cleaner was there and said that the door had jammed shut so I went and had my lunch instead.
Today I could head out before working from home. It was not too bad out there. It was cool, but dry. I did the usual Fairfield loop. When I was running up West Drive I could hear a car behind me. There is not a lot of room to pass, so I just sped up to not hold them up too much. I think they were going to tend to their horse.
The tree was cut down a while ago, but has not been removed yet. It was obviously rotten inside. I wonder if anything lives in it. I could hear a woodpecker up there. That is one advantage of my skull vibration headphones that let me hear what is going on. I did not see the woodpecker, but I did encounter a crowd of pigeons that flew off when I approached.
I saw a couple of runners out there plus dog walkers and kids going to school. My main podcast listening was Laurie Anderson on Desert Island Discs. She had some interesting music choices including some from her husband Lou Reed and from her friend Philip Glass. I saw her and Glass perform in London a few years ago.
I have volunteered for parkrun on Saturday and will try to get in some other runs this week.

That poor old tree and can imagine a family of owls treating it as home!
I really ought to listen to more of her music. I remember well when O Superman came out.
That hole in the tree is really inspiring! I can imagine an entire tiny world inside of it. Years ago, during an event in a small village close to my city, I exhibit my wooden freaky sculptures all around the trees and the result was very interesting. ^_^
It has caught my eye a few times, but this was the first time I stopped for a photo. Someone did a good job of chopping it off cleanly. I know woods were enchanted places when I was a kid.
My dad used to chop wood for our stove for many years and I have a lot of nice memories about me with him in the wood (at the right distance, of course) while he was telling me how to do it in the right way. I think this is the reason I love to work with wood. ^_^
I used to chop wood for our fire as a kid. My parents let me loose with an axe and I managed to survive.
Wow, that tree was definitely not looking good. I also wonder what kind of wildlife might have called it home. Nice job on your run. My wife and I took the day off today. I think if we were able to sleep longer we wouldn't do that as much as we do. It seems about once a week though we just say screw it!
I assume someone spotted that the tree had an issue and decided it needed to come down. It's nice having the little wood up there. I know there are plenty of squirrels as well as all the birds. They may get some deer too.
I'm trying to run at least 3 times each week as I need days off. I have a bit of a walk when I go to the office for extra exercise. I am coming up on 8 years at this job. The office is about 12 miles away and I've only ever driven there a handful of times. The train is fairly convenient. I have cycled it a few times and ought to get back into that.
Yeah, that is a good point about the tree. It's pretty clear they knew it had to come down before it fell on its own. 12 miles doesn't seem like it would be too bad to cycle. I guess it depends on how fast you can go.
I can get there mostly off-road to avoid all the cars. I just need to get my legs used to cycling again.
I totally understand!
Keep going, you're smashing your training at the moment and getting stronger every day.

One of the benefits of working from home is that one can go walking/running after work.
I like to do it before as it will be dark when I finish.
The duration of daylight has been increasing per day here.
It tends to do that at this time of year :) The solar cycles are pretty reliable.
I think it is faster in Turkiye than the UK :)
