My name is Abdul Rauf Mahama, and I reside in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region of Ghana. Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of traveling and exploring various parts of the country. However, I have always felt a strong sense of belonging to my hometown, Tamale, and it holds a special place in my heart. The diverse nature and beautiful traditions of Ghana, as experienced during my travels, have deepened my respect and appreciation for my country.
I received my primary and junior high school education at Manhalia Islamic School, where I laid the foundation for my academic journey. Subsequently, I attended the prestigious Northern School of Business in Tamale for my high school education. Known for its excellence in business education, the school equipped me with valuable knowledge and skills.
With a desire to pursue higher education, I enrolled at the University for Development Studies. Under the faculty of Development Sustainability, Politics, and Development, I pursued a diploma in Development Education. This educational program provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics between development and education, enabling me to contribute to sustainable progress in my community and beyond.
I hold great admiration for the beauty and diversity that exists within Ghana, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to explore different regions of my country. However, no matter where my travels may take me, Tamale will always be my cherished home.
Upon completing my secondary school education, I embarked on an entrepreneurial endeavor alongside my sister, leveraging my business acumen. We ventured into the production of bread, with me assuming the role of distributor responsible for serving customers located throughout the region. However, unfortunate circumstances befell me when I experienced a severe accident that resulted in damage to my knee and hip pelvic bone. Furthermore, I endured another distressing incident involving a gas burn. Both of these accidents posed significant threats to my life, and I remain deeply grateful to God for granting me the gift of life despite the challenges I faced.
- I was introduced to Hive by Abdul Wahab Pandev a colleague who recognize my passion for social development advocacy and zeal to contribute to the growth and development of societies down here in the North especially changing the narrative of we northerners stereotype each other because of our cultural and tribal differences, where I advocate of social talk change to embrace each other and help build one great northern Ghana full of love and great ambitions. I couldn’t look down upon his invitation for me join Hive as it aligned perfectly with my set goal and ways of selling the Northern Ghanaian culture to the rest of the world.I am so grateful and honored to be part of this initiative of Hive that values collaborative, collectivism, creativity and innovation as I look forward to see what the future or the journey holds for me on here, where I can also contribute my good able skills and innovative ideas as I tend to also learn greatly from comrades on here because every opportunity is a start of another great journey.
And in conclusion my name still remains Abdul Rauf Mahama, a teacher and a development advocate for social development and my passion for social development has made me to engage my self in the field of education as I strive to make positive impact through education on the lives of peoples and pupils within and beyond my community. Hive has shown me an exciting journey of opportunities to join like minded colleagues to improve on our educational system in the country and to also eradicate the negativity from the minds of people about the narrative of Northern Ghana to help in the advancement of humanity. I am super excited on joining the Hive community and can’t wait to start the journey of transformation. Thank you
