The price of commodities some years back compared to this year has skyrocketed ten times to the previous years.
I could remember when a bag of rice was #6,500 but now, that amount cannot even buy two congos of rice in the market. This is a very tough experience as a citizen, and this inflation has claimed the lives of some people because they were unable to afford some basic amenities for their daily living; it is unbearable again.
It was a different experience now when we were buying a liter of petrol at the rate of #980 compared to when the price was even #125, at this time I remember we usually buy a thousand naira of petrol fuel for the use of our generator at home, it was saddened that is not like that anymore.
People's monthly earnings can no longer feed them until they get some other side earnings just to make sure they cater to their families. To live in this kind of economy, hardship is not a palatable experience, and it is a life-threatening situation for the citizens.
This economic hardship has made both the rich and the poor become the same as they are all shouting at the high cost of living.
Gone are those days when the price of rice is more than that of the beans compared to now that the price of beans is even more than that of the rice. I have never seen this before in my entire life.
This economic hardship has made a good child become a bad one just because of the economic saga; it makes children flee away from their parents.

I live in a town where we all believe commodities are cheap but that has become a story of the past.
The same song is in the mouth of the traders in the market that things are too expensive even from where they are buying them, and it is very funny but heartbreaking when you buy something now, and in some minutes the price has changed even in your presence.
This makes me remember the experience my sister had when she wanted to get a new phone; after several consultations on the price of the exact phone she wanted to buy, she wanted to know the target of the money she would be saving for her to get the phone, she came back home. At the time she was ready to get this phone on getting there, the price of the phone had already multiplied by two, and she was advised by one of the attendants that she should have found money to get the phone once and for all. She had to source money on a loan from her friends to get the phone and avoid another price increase.
This inflation has made many businesses crumble because they can't afford the prices of goods anymore, and people are not buying the goods. Some have used the money for business to feed the family. However, the situation requires that.
The economy situation has made parents to become angry easily and they can't ask their children anymore if they are satisfied with their foods but they only ask if they children have eaten.
This economic hardship has caused different illnesses for some people as a result of overthinking how to cater to the family and even how to settle their debts.

Yes, it looks like a joke when people are saying that if you want to buy something and the seller is about to receive a call, make sure you pay for the goods you buy before the seller picks up the call.
