The first relationship we have when we are being born is that of a family. Parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and all come together to make up a family.

We make our first bond, connection and even friendship amongst our families. The very instant our existence is confirmed as persons, the beginning of our exploitation is marked from the word go till when we are old and grey.

As we begin to grow, we are ushered into different environments outside our homes. We attend religious gatherings, school, join organizations, work, take a walk, join public transportation, so on and so forth. In all walks of life, we come across different people from different backgrounds and with different characters. We get to make friendship and acquaintances out of all that with time.

Every day in life is a rediscovery, we learn new things, make discoveries and expand our knowledge base. We do not do so just by ourselves, there are many ways of obtaining experiences and we cannot empathize on that enough without mentioning friendship.

Interestingly, there are many types of friendships: best friends, close friends, work friends, old friends, acquittances, loud friend, foodie friends, loyal friends, ambivalent friends and all the other types. Turns out, there is friendship type for every moment.

On that note, I have made friends along the line but not everyone was meant to stay.

Did I cut anyone from my life?
The answer is yes, I have had to cut some friendship short. As we move forward with life, we learn to be transformed positively. Therefore, our friends are to impact on us positively and not the other way round.

The few friends I had to let go committed in ways that were not healthy. It got to the point of mistrust, hurt, some dragging you back and a host of other things not good for growth
That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be second chances but, there are things you simply cannot recover from and it best you let go.

As time progresses, some friendship also grows apart not because it was bad, but most friends are borne out of circumstances, moments and distance factors. Naturally some of these friendships just happen to fold.

Do I wish to make up with friends I cut off?
When you connect with a person as a friend, naturally a bond is created and letting go isn’t always simple as it may sound. Some are difficult, but the moment I take a walk, there is no going back. Friendships like any other relationship is built on trust, if something happens to disrupt that, it may not be the same again.

My answer is no, I’ll pass.

There really is no going back. Just thinking about what the person did alone makes everything worse

High five girl, that's as simple as that
