Who loves to explore food types? Not I
Why? Well maybe because I love sticking with what I know.
Variety is the spice of life, it’s a slogan I quote but I don’t get to live it. A friend of mine once said that that was my undoing. My not wanting to explore other options but rather wanting to always stick to what I know.
Hmmm, he may be right, maybe I need to flex my muscles and be free to spread my wings and explore but that would definitely have to apply a little break when it comes to food to eat.
I am not a foodie and not much of an eater, maybe that’s why I find it not too easy to explore food options. Well, I see people eating some things I call strange but they see it as exciting and happily goes about eating it.
Did I need to tell you how much I was in bewilderment when I saw my roommate adding groundnuts to her custard. How on earth do you use groundnuts to drink custard?
I couldn’t rap my beautiful head around that. Well, what about when I saw a colleague of mine adding ginger to her pap. You will tell me it’s normal right? Fresh ginger inside pap, no sugar. One of them even said she used lime in her pap and it tastes like sprite.
I opened my mouth and closed it. Another colleague of mine uses moi-moi to eat bread. He has so much talked about this food Combo and how delicious it was that I was robed into this deception.
Well, yes! I had to use moi-moi to eat bread. My experience? It was a disaster. First and last day. Till date he’s still singing about it. Well, he said mine wasn’t sweet because the moi/moi I used wasn’t sweet. Can you imagine?
Did you know my bewilderment the first time I saw my big cousins cooking beans and spaghetti. Well, they said it’s common.
How about people who use smoked fish to drink garri and even crayfish? The list goes on and on. I love a simple life free from drama.
When I see all of these food combinations, it gives me an ache but thank goodness they are not eating into my body hence everyone is free to explore accordingly to their choices . As for me, I will stick to what I know. Life is not hard.
