There's no secret of success that you do not know

I made a post Here few days back promising you this very topic so here we go. There's no secret of success that you do not know and I can boldly bet you on that. Not one. So, what's preventing you from succeeding isn't that you don't know the secrets, but that you don't practice the habits. What do successful people say their secrets are again? They wake up early, They work harder than the average 9-5, They make money, They save money, They invest money, They keep learning, They read books, attend conferences, and events, They network and They disconnect.

Are these not the secrets?

Did they tell you that they were born with three heads and one is in a secret room in their house? Oh, I forget. Nollywood says you can buy a calabash, put two eggs inside, cover it with a white bowl, then use a red piece of cloth to tie it. Then, wake up the next morning, and you're rich. Is that it? So, why not rush quickly to the market to buy these items before they finish? Or that you can be in the village tapping Palm wine, and someone somewhere will call your phone that you've won the contract. You know Hypo Go Wipe Ooo? I'm sure you've heard that slogan by Hypo. You need it to wipe your brain if you still think in that direction.

The rich and the wealthy have no secret that you're not aware of

None. The only secret of the rich and the wealthy that you might not be aware of is the level of information at their arsenal. Information, they say, is opportunity. Those are opportunities that are not available in mainstream media. They may be available, but in tiny pieces that will take you time to piece together. Aside from that, none. But do you know? That the information you have right now can open the next big door for you? Do you? Haven't you seen someone not as good as you living the Life of your Dreams?

YouTube is free, likewise Google, buddy! Literally, the world's information at your fingertips. To get the best out of it, you need to understand Googlism. You need to know how to search for things beyond "What is" with follow-up queries. Again, there's no secret of success that you do not know. I can bet you on that. Not one. So, what's preventing you from succeeding isn't that you don't know the secrets, but that you don't practice the habits.

What are the habits?

  1. They DO it regardless. Yes, they understand that whether they do it or not, people will talk. But for you, you allow 'what if they say' to discourage you.

  2. The rich are not afraid of failure. In fact, they fail fast. Yes, they know that failing is a journey, so they quickly sojourn to learn their lesson, know what to do next, and move on.

But you, you delay your failure and still fail. I've written extensively on failing fast and why it's important. Scroll through my timeline to see it. For instance, if you start a business and you come to a crossroad; not knowing whether to do A or B. And you don't have an experienced person you could talk to, your best option is to try either available option - if you end up with the wrong option, you know that the next option might be the right one. But, for you, you delay making that decision because you're so afraid and you remain in one position for years not knowing whether A or B is the right route and at the end of many years, you still end up with the wrong choice. If you had taken that audacious move 1 year ago, you would have picked up the lesson; what works and what doesn't work. Time is of the essence, my friend!

They are consistent

This one is the number 3 of the above two points: They are consistent. Once they are clear that A isn't the route, they focus more energy on doing B for a long time. They play the long-time game. Of course, there is room for short-term quick gains. But many times, they stay on a path until success is assured before pivoting. For example, once their aim is to get to Lagos from Port Harcourt. They determine how long it will take to get there - say 10 days. They find out how much it will cost, what junctions, states, or landmarks one needs to pass through to be sure they are on the right track. Because it's their first time, instead of the usual 10 days, they give themselves 15 days. If the journey will cost N20,000, they estimate N25,000.

Then, they proceed with the journey. This is called scenario planning. They understand that things can go wrong, so they plan ahead for any unforeseen event. Eventually, they fall out, stumble on hard rocks. They do not stand up and start going immediately. They stand, ask WHY it happened that way. They find the reason, document it, and continue the journey wiser.

The mistakes you have made

But you? Someone made a post that he/she made $50,000 from Blogging in 30 days. You jump. Buy a domain, host it, and start posting anything that comes to your mind. 23 days into the Blogging journey, you didn't make a dime. Then you saw a post - the poster says, you can make $1,000 monthly from Upwork as a Data analyst. You jump!

Quickly registered, waiting to start making $1,000 monthly. 30 days came, you didn't make anything. You feel more frustrated than ever. Perhaps, all of them have been lying. The next shining object... You're about to abandon the two things you've tried for another. Little wonder why the good book, the Bible says that a Fool and his money are easily separated. It says that you, who has the mentality of now or next, and your money are easily separated. Does it mean that you cannot start now and make it big now? It's possible. A discussion for another day.

Secret is not a secret; A little guideline for you to follow and succeed

Now, you can see that the secrets are not your problem, but your fizzling habits are your greatest undoing. I want to help you. In two ways. Here's one. The number 90 has a strong significance in creation. Take 90 days and commit to learning ONE thing. Start from the fundamentals. Learn the origin. Learn how the world operated when that particular thing wasn't in the picture. Learn how the thing shapes the world. Don't be in a haste to make money. There's a learning and earning season. You're in your learning season. After 90 days, go for an internship.

Go and serve someone who is higher than you. A person who understands internship and the journey you're in. During that period, use it to evaluate the quality of knowledge you have about that thing. After that do not forget and fill me in what you think. Two, if you've learned something, take 90 days; disconnect and implement it. For 90 days, do what you claim to know every single day. After that do not forget and fill me in what you think. Remember, "what's preventing you from succeeding isn't that you don't know the secrets, but that you don't practice the habits."
