One of my spiritual fathers would say to fear people who have never failed before because they see themselves as perfectionist, failure doesn't mean you are incapable but builds you ahead to be able to stand and re-strategize again.
I went into a business some time ago, it was a clothing business, I do not have much knowledge about this business but I wanted to try and see how it goes, I told my friend about it and she Supported me but one thing I neglected that period was meeting people's need, I forgot that people only look for what to eat at this period and not want.
We know that food is very paramount, no one will choose clothes over food, all I thought was that I would see my customers no matter how the economy is, also I made the mistake of buying in large quantities rather than getting little, and know how the market will move and if it eventually boom then I could restock but I ignored and pack them in large quantities.
I started this business and my friends are the ones patronizing me with lots of debt, they keep on buying and owing me, the business was nothing to write about, I cried because I put in my effort, time, and money just to make it work, I started moving from hostel to hostel because I was staying around the school area, but everything standstill, I couldn't imagine that I started wearing some of the clothes because all hope was gone.
I was at a loss but I picked up my pieces again and let it go, it is just a want that people can do without, though I was pained because of my effort and the way my friends started taking the clothes one after the other till they empty the bag and never give me a dime, anytime I asked for my money they kept on postponing me as if I bought the clothes with stones.
It got to a stage where I started begging them to pay a little out of it, I knew that business wasn't for me anymore, and some of my friends cut me off because of this issue, the way I was begging for my money was as if they want to render me some help, at last, I had to forget about it and let it go, till today none of them pay me for everything they picked and it was because of the familiarity between us then brought about this habit.
I had to console myself and pick up my broken pieces and move on, though it wasn't easy thank goodness I didn't get a loan from anyone, it was my savings that I used in all of it, I realized that I made a mistake by going into the business that I know nothing about, I comfort myself and let that one weigh me down and never allow it to put asunder between my friends and I.
I learned a lesson from that and helped myself to grow in everything I do, I never allowed my failure to determine me, I became strong and learned more about what I want to do, and now I am good in the path I chose. We should always learn how to stand firm when we are going through a tough time or at a loss, and never bury ourselves in shame, stand strong, and let go of the past.
This is my response to this week's #hiveghana weekly prompt #week87
