The importance of due diligence needs to be overemphasized in those times when a human being is predisposed to become desperate.
A broke man seeking urgent breakthrough, a childless woman who is being pressured, the single in desperate search for a mate, etc all need to apply extra caution, but they may lack the capacity to do this on their own because desperation on its own takes away this ability. Hence the importance of the close friends or family to look out for their well being.
A few months ago, I came across this documentary on cryptic pregnancy and miracle babies. It was an eye opener for me because before then, I would not have believed that such a scam existed and even if I believed it existed, I would never have believed that people would fall for it.
Maybe it's because of my in-depth knowledge of the human body and pregnancy, but I felt that the concept of pregnancy and child birth is as old as man and as such, every adult should know the normal expectations, especially women.
This documentary highlighted how a self acclaimed doctor would help childless couples to put to birth but her mechanisms are unfounded and shrouded in secrecy.
Imagine that after "taking in" through her drugs, when it's time to deliver, she is the only one who can induce labour for a client to deliver.
Sometimes, she claims that the drug is not available yet and as such you have to wait till the drug becomes available, even if that happens in the 13th month of your gestation. How convenient!
This just goes to show that this is a window for them to produce a child for the client to go home with at the end of the scam.
How will this child be produced then? Most likely human trafficking.
This industry has popularized cryptic pregnancy beyond its natural frequency of occurrence. Yes! Cryptic pregnancy is possible but not as frequent as purported.
And definitely not with such density in a particular population. How would all the women who got pregnant through your means have a cryptic pregnancy?
I do not regret watching this documentary nor do I wish to unhear it because it brought to my attention an issue worth knowing and discussing and I have more things up my sleeves when the need to counsel my patients on such cases arise.
Another disheartening thing about this scam is the finance involved and also the ingestion of questionable substances all in the names of drugs to get pregnant.
These substances despite not working for the prescribed reasons add to the load of toxicity being faced by the liver and as such predisposes to liver problems and also kidney problems.
This issue is one that needs as much publicity as possible so that more couples don't fall for the scam but rather seek more healthy ways to get children. Thanks to scientific advancement, the options have become more numerous than before.
The scam of cryptic pregnancy should not have any clients. The problem is that desperation blinds and also makes one reject professional advise while clinging to a glimmer of hope. If not, it is too illogical and unbelievable that one should immediately see through the hoax.

Nice writing and I agree with you completely
This is scary, imagine a 13 months pregnancy and then there is no drugs to take.
That's the problem, the woman is not actually pregnant. It is a scam. They are just waiting to procure a baby which they would give her and since they have not come up with the child, they delay the "delivery".
