Good evening everyone and welcome to my blog. Wishing you all a happy weekend. Thank you to @hive.ghana.
Many of us have been employees at some stage in our lives, but few of us have aspirations of being an employee forever. In our working lives, there are positions that may appear as desirable or even possible, but then there are positions, no matter how much money one would be offered, one cannot apply for. One of them is the high – pressure, sales executive who uses brutal techniques with customers.
**Why This Job? **
Core Values Clash: Deep-down, the source of my decision-making discomfort is rooted in a conflict with one’s ethics . High-pressure selling is, by and large, the process of pressurizing people into exercising certain choices that they may not fully comprehend or actually desire to make. Although this approach can be somewhat invasive, I’m rather ethical and always make sure that people know they are being watched. It is unfair to be engaged in a system that has the potential of threatening or deceiving people this goes against my principles of ethical practices.
Skill Set Mismatch: Even though I can learn all those skills, something in me is repelled from this kind of approach and tends to build real friendly relationships instead of focused persuasion in case of the undertaken role. The pressure and the daily demands of production would unceasingly be detremental to my well-being and job performance as the nature of the job is relentlessly goal-oriented.
- Long-Term Impact: The stress that high pressure sales put into salespeople might mean that you have demotivated and dissatisfied employees on your hands soon. Besides, there are indirect risks such as deterioration in the appreciation of personal values and progressive mental decline. Far as positions, I appreciate jobs that are relevant to my career interests and lead to self- and social development.
Contemplating the Sphere of Interaction: Personal and Professional Interests and Biases
Our careers are very individualistic, and mostly shaped by value propositions, skill sets and aspirations. When searching for a job, one has to be very sensitive when it comes to deciding on which job to take, this is because, every employee has his or her limits and cannot just compromise with any employer. Although money matters cannot be overemphasized so far as work motivation is concerned, thus it is a fact that satisfaction and effective performance in work depend on the ability of the individual to find congruence between the work he does and his values, and work match his skills and well being.
Altogether, being a high-pressure sales executive means something that I would not seek for because it is not compatible with my values and skills. Exploring our weaknesses and strengths is useful for the search of better career, so that work and life were both productive and satisfying.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Best wishes ❤️
