Believe me, insomnia can be extremely disturbing. I’ve been at work for the past two days, and it’s been hard to catch any sleep. Now, I have a headache—all because my mind won’t stop racing over things I’ve done and things I still need to do. I really need sleep, and I probably know what to do: take a shower, relax, and hopefully drift off smoothly.
But instead of just lying there, I thought, Why not put this insomnia to use? That’s why I’m writing this.
Many people assume everything they go through is negative, viewing every situation through a lens of blame or superstition. For example, if a tumbler falls and breaks, they might think it’s an attack or blame "Satan," as we often do here in Africa. But sometimes, you need to see the blessing in every experience.
My inability to sleep inspired me to write—to share how to use insomnia productively. Now, others may benefit from this. I turned what could have been a frustrating night into something meaningful.
Even in unpleasant situations, you don’t have to stay stuck in the negativity. The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:8: "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—think on these things." Your mindset shapes your reality. Don’t let a tough situation trap your thoughts.
Think beyond your current limits. Just like the slaves who sang of freedom long before it came, look beyond your "prison." Focus on the victory ahead. Your breakthrough starts in your mind before it manifests physically.
Distractions will always be there, but like Peter walking on water, keep your eyes fixed on the solution, not the storm.
Back to my insomnia—after writing this, I don’t even feel like sleeping anymore. I’ll rest when it’s time, but for now, I’ve turned a restless night into something valuable. Maybe this just solved someone’s problem.
Stay hopeful. Look beyond the struggle.
Maybe now I should check the preasure and catch a little sleep.
