"Don't Let Anyone Kill You" is a slogan I have been holding on to for a very long time, and it amused me a lot when I came across a very relatable post on Facebook in the form of a meme. I laughed out loud. The post was about a particular musician and his group, who allegedly killed one of his top-rising crew artists. It was alleged because, up until today, he has yet to be found guilty by the court of law, but everyone in the country believes he killed the guy. When the incident happened, almost everyone in the country hated him and vowed never to listen to his songs again,both old and new, and that was expected to eventually lead to the fading of his career.
Guess what? He released a song recently, and almost everyone in the country has been promoting it on TikTok through dance and cover videos. This is the same person that everyone swore they would never have anything to do with again! The post stated that no matter what you are going through in life, don't let anyone kill you because the world will mourn you for only a few days, and after a few months, life will go back to normal as if you never existed.
How I Came About This Slogan
Something happened in my village back then. A lady on our street was killed by her boyfriend due to relationship issues. The family of the lady didn’t take it lightly, they were angered and had the guy arrested. Meanwhile, the family of the guy(murderer) was very wealthy, but even with their wealth, they didn’t attempt to bail him out at the initial stage. Instead, they humbled themselves, acted remorsefully, and politely begged the deceased lady’s family for forgiveness. However, the family of the deceased refused to accept their pleas.
After many months of begging, with almost everyone in the community joining in to plead for forgiveness, the deceased lady’s family finally agreed, and the guy was released.
I don’t blame the family of the deceased. They were begged by almost everyone in the village, including clergy members, who urged them to forgive the past, show mercy, and leave vengeance to God. You know how the rich always have a lot of people by their side? This family was able to rally so much support for their cause due to their influence. In the end, the deceased lady’s family succumbed to the pressure, and the guy was released.
But what about the lady who was killed? She is dead, never coming back, and life moves on.
Although this is how the world has operated from the beginning of time, it has become even worse in this era, w here murderers can be released, and within months, the memory of the deceased fades away, almost as if they never existed.
I am being extra careful in my life, avoiding any situation that could put me in danger because, no matter what, whoever kills me will eventually be freed. After some months or years, I will be forgotten, just like I never existed. I am not even sure if there is truly punishment for murderers on Judgment Day because the way people casually take human lives these days is alarming. It seems human life is no longer valued.
