Having lived some good number of years as an adult, it is glaring that things do not always go as planned. Some of our plans and goals materialize as intended, some came close to being what we wanted, yet some of our plans went entirely opposite to what we wanted them to become.
People will always have different approach to things based on their understanding about life, but one quality I believe would help in assuaging the challenges we encounter intermittently is staying positive.

Personally, positivity is seeing the good side of things, situations and people regardless of what our senses tells us. It is giving reasons why things would go well even when it is glaring that they might not. Seeing that positivity goes beyond our human senses, it is something one must do consciously. This is because some situations are capable of pressuring us in to believing that some of our goals and aspirations aren't attainable.
No one is spared when it comes to encountering daring situations at some point in life. The outcome we see depends on our mindset (positivity is a product of the mind). How we see challenges really matter: it is what shapes our approach to things and issues. A positive mind is fertile ground for creative solutions to problems. One who is always positive has a higher chance to thrive at points where others (who hardly see good in things) fail.
Having failed in some of my goals before, I have come to realize that I had at most times entertained negativities - I always had the "what if it doesn't …" question attached to all I did. It was a mindset that caused a lot of unnecessary pressure even when there obviously was no need for any.
Tips
Staying positive at all times is one thing I have made up my mind to do this year regardless of what I feel or see. I have also marked out a few strategies to make it work, some of which are:
Reading more: Knowing that knowledge is powerful and can affect the mind in a positive way, I have got books (mostly motivational) for reading. Some of them were recommended by friends. "We look like what we read", a friend of mine would always say.
Less of startling news: I am currently very selective of the news I watch or listen to. I avoid negative news because they poison the mind.
Reshuffling my circle of friends: I've marked out some negative friends for separation. They're good at discouragement.
Meditating more: I realize I do things better after meditation. I'll keep at it.
Exercising more: for better system function and activity.
Quality sleep: for better mental health.
Improved dieting: I've got to do away with junks for quality and wholesome meals. It has a way of improving overall well-being.
I believe with the right understanding and strategies, this year will be different from the previous years with more productivity for me.

Positivity is one way to keep the hope alive.
Actually, it is and I believe we all need it
It’s really great to know that you’ve marked out some negative friends which you are going to separate yourself from. Friendships are very important and most times, where you will be depends on the kind of company you keep.
Yes, some friends discourage success by painting only negative pictures of everything. Making good friends is one way of staying positive in life.
