A Peak into my Holiday

in HiveGhana11 months ago (edited)

Holidays are usually the special moment I look forward to. Its an avenue to take a break from work and have time to meet up with friends, be available for family and also take special care of myself. This December wasn't any different. I had planned to spend the entire holiday on taking enough rest before work resumes.
I had left work a week earlier to the closing date with permission from my Boss; of course. Its been a year since I went Home. I've only being in contact with my family through phone calls and. If I miss out on this little break, its going to be another year before I can go home.

An eight hours journey couldn't have left me in a better way. I got home past 6pm when I left for home at past 10am. Everyone was happy to see me. The feeling was beautiful. After I had settled down properly, I put a call through my distance friends. I'd last seen one in 7 years and the second was almost 3 years ago but we were always getting in touch phone calls and social medias. We talked at length on phone and they had come up with the proposal of us "hanging out". I didn't plan to be outside this holiday but outings sounds like fun with friends I've seen a long time ago. I took it upon myself to plan our outing. I fixed the date and found us an accommodation. Actually, the accommodation was one of my friend's house. He wasn't sure if using his house was a good idea but i had convinced him and was also able to speak with his Dad. His Dad was glad to have us over.

As the Foodie that I am, I like to always have something to eat especially in a family gathering. Aside the main dishes, I opted for zobo drinks and prawn cracker. They wanted chi exotic to zobo but I was able to convince them into taking Zobo drinks. I got all I needed, bought all ingredients and headed to their place. You can't imagine how happy we all were meeting ourselves at bus stop and going home together. We had so much to talk about. Endless gist and teases.

On christmas day, breakfast served with love was Fried rice and chicken by our little sis. I had helped her out in the kitchen a bit before leaving her to it. The food came out really nice and we all ate with love while Daddy engaged us in topics we talked about.
After having a family time with everyone, I decided to make the Zobo drinks and keep in the refrigerator. Everyone decided to come keep me company and engage me with conversations in the kitchen. I taught them how Zobo drinks is made and how they could get the best out of the drink. Everyone was amazed and they couldn't have enough of tasting it. I had to forcefully send them all away, especially the guys just to make sure they didn't finish the zobo drink right there. But I was very happy they all loved and enjoyed it. Mummy and Daddy both praised me and I was really excited.

Later in the day, my friends and I all went out to Genesis. It's a very popular place in Lagos. Just as expected, it was filled with people. I haven't been in the midst of crowd in a very long time and it felt really good to be in the midst of people. We took countless pictures and videos of ourselves, wined and dined together at a table and teased ourselves. We went back home with enough gist for those at home. Later that night, we all camped in a room and try as much as possible to make the best of the remaining hours we have left with our prawn crackers and chilled zobo drink. The next morning, our little sis made us Spaghetti, served with the chilled zobo drink. Hours later, we parted after saying our goodbyes. From there, I travelled to attend a Walimatul Nikkah (Muslim Wedding Ceremony) and the next day, I travelled to another state for a Walimatul Qur'an (Quranic graduation) of a friend's niece.

My holiday wasn't planned like this but I enjoyed every bit of it and wouldn't have it any other way.
