I always seem have a kind of love-hate relationship with December weather because in as much as I love the weather, I hate it also. Speaking about the weather conditions, most parts of the world experience different weather conditions at different times to the year and same applies to Ghana.
Here in Ghana, we only have to seasons which are the wet and the dry season of which December falls into the dry season. It’s more like the transition phase between the wet season to the dry season. Here, we call it the harmattan season and this time of the year is usually dry, hot and cold for most parts of the day, especially at night and the early hours of the day. The best time to sleep during this season is the mornings because it’s always ice chilled.
Most people do not like this season because of their kids. You know how kids are. Always running around caring less about the weather and all of that. But, what can we do? They’re just kids so as parents, we must ensure to keep our kids healthy at this time of the year. One thing most people experience is cold coupled with cough because of how cold and dry the environment is. Everyone needs to protect themselves during these times as anyone can fall victim to the flu. One thing I particularly put in place keep myself and those around me healthy is to stay hydrated all the time. As the place is dry, we need to keep drinking a lot of water because we are also losing water along the line. You wouldn’t want to collapse on a random day from dehydration.
The next thing to do is to make sure your skin is always moisturized. This is very essential because you don’t want to have dry skin in this season. Let’s also not forget our lips and feet. They also need to be in good state. You would not want to be walking around with chapped lips talking to people. It’s a huge red flag so, make sure to keep your lips looking fresh all the time, your skin in check and also your feet.
Lastly, boost your immune system by taking vitamins and supplements while also incorporating fruits into your diet. Make sure your diet is balanced and you’re good to go. I hope these tips would help someone out there stay healthy during this season.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas .🎄🥂
