Hello Everyone in this awesome Community,
There is a popular saying that "Life is a teacher, the more you live the more you learn" obviously this works for all aspects of life, you can never be an island of Knowledge, meaning no one can know it all, not even the wisest.

I am from a family where my Mum and Dad tried their best to instill discipline and respect in us, most of the time am very proud of having great parents that really pave the path to success for me. They taught me to be a good person, but a good deed never go unpunished was my case.

Let me share to you one of the most Unforgettable lesson i learnt.

After completing my national youth service in Benue, i got a work with a Fintech company, Nomba financial Services (Formerly known as Kudi). I was employed as a sales agent and agent acquisition officer. Our primary Duty is to go to the field (Different Places in the state) Onboard and give point of Sales machines to the newly onboarded agent.
Being a newbie in the work then, i worked my ass off, even on Sundays when I should be resting or having a form of relaxation, i would be on the move, doing my Job diligently. At the first year of work, i was able. To get more than 400 new agents and distribute some machines to them and i have covered more than 60% of the state local government. By then we were being paid 40,000 naira, which i complained to the management of the company about it for increment because the cost of transportation and feeding is much and the money is not enough, they promised to increase the salary in a few months time.

After 1 year and 2months our salary was increased to 70,000 naira, by this time i already covered all the state local governments and gotten more than 1000 agents all through the state. I was so loyal to the company to the extent that other companies brought different proposal and opportunities that is bigger with almost triple amount that my company was paying then but i did go with them, this was because i trusted that Nomba Financial Services will promote me to the post of state coordinator in a few months time.
Many of my friends adviced me to leave the company and try out the offers of those other companies by then palmpay and opay limited ( popular fintech companies in Nigeria) Brought amazing offers nut i declined them because of my trust and loyalty for the company.

This was a very big mistake i forever regret, this is because Just 5 months after the big offers, on the said Month my Company (Nomba Agents) were supposed to promote me officially as a State Coordinator, the company brought a news of Restructuring in the company, so they lay off all the staffs, which i was also included. Sadly i missed too great opportunity that could have really helped me in many aspects.

What was the moral of the experience to me?

I learnt never to put all your eggs in one basket this means that you should not really on only one means, get alternative and take opportunities that come your way and be wise. I could have taken the opportunities that comes my way but i didn't and i lost both my Job and opportunities to work in a better company.I learnt my lesson, and this mistake would never happen to me again.

This was my response to the #Hiveghana #weeklyprompt

I hope you enjoy reading, do have a great day

Ah I feel for you, though you learnt the hard waydespite your hard work. That why I decided to be self employed.

I really learnt the hard way,
Kudos to being your own manager

Life is indeed a teacher

Wow!this sad but also inspiring.
I won't call what you did regret. Your dedication to the company you worked for was already a great achievement. I think they were the ones who lost and not you.
You did what you felt was right then, even if it might have looked stupid to others. Even if things are tough now, it would get better as much as you stay true to what you believe, same loyalty and consistency would cave a path for you ❤

Maybe I’m just a bad person😂
But I will never refuse better opportunity for some company that doesn’t see my worth
I’m sorry you had to learn the hard way but I’m glad you still learned this anyway

Honestly I really messed up by putting faith on Nomba Financial Services,
I really learnt the hard way
