WHY A DAY WITHOUT A PHONE IS WORSE THAN A DAY WITHOUT FOOD

At the first thought of it, comparing food to phones may sound impossible talk less of saying that phone is more important than food but a second look at the topic will help explain why. A day not days is the focus and so I will like to dwell on why a day without phone is worse than a day without food. The role that smartphones play in our daily lives is huge and it has become an intrinsic part of modern living. Food is very important in sustaining life, however let's look at some ways that phone may be considered as being more important.

COMMUNICATION:

I remember when I lost my grandmother who lived in another state some decades ago, the news of her death didn't get to us until after 3 days. There were no mobile phones then and we didn't have a table phone at home, so the message was relayed in a letter that was sent through express courier. The regular post would have taken about 2 to 3 weeks, mobile phones has put a stop to such nonsense as it easily makes communication and connectivity easy with just a click.

To reach loved ones in any part of the world, I don't need to wait for days. Although food helps to sustain the body functions, communication with the use of phones has helped to strengthen and sustain relationships and emotional well-being which are key to our existence as humans.

MAKING KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION EASILY ACCESSIBLE:

Knowledge as we know is power and the modern world is so interconnected because it is driven by readily available information.

To get these two you will need a smartphone. The information on how to grow food and make it available can be gotten from phones, if food is lacking the knowledge on how to resolve it can be accessed through a phone. This means that while food sustains our physical health, the information that we get with the use of phones promotes our intellectual growth and self-improvement.

IT MAKES ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES EASIER:

Once food enters the mouth, what it does is limited to the digestive tract and the body but phones exposes us to a lot of opportunities and resources beyond our geographical location. It is with the aid of phones that you can reach out to a doctor or access other health services. If we are bored, we can uplift our spirit with the resources we get online, those who need jobs to provide food and take care of other needs can search for job opportunities with the aid of a phone.

If there is a farmine or food shortage, it is with the aid of a phone that you can access opportunities for relief provisions. Agreed food is good but phones can empower us to get resources and opportunities that food cannot make us get.

ACCESS TO FINANCE:

A person may have no food because of a lack of money or he may be in an area where access to banks so as to make withdrawal is limited. Mobile banking on mobile phones solves this problem by helping people to make transactions seamlessly and access money to care for basic needs. With mobile phones, one can contact close friends or relatives who can come to the rescue if someone finds himself in a tight condition. A plate of food cannot do this.

CONCLUSION:

Living in a fast-paced world, the importance of phones cannot be overemphasized. People survive on a day without food but that day can be made worse without a phone. The choice to stay without food can be for religious, health or economic reasons but in such situations phones come in handy as a valuable companion and helps to make the situation easier to be bear. Although food sustains life and it's functions, smartphones makes communication, access to opportunities, intellectual development, economic empowerment and access to knowledge and information possible. If you lose your phone in one day,it's like losing a part of yourself.
