Greetings!
Education, they say, is the best legacy. This saying about education is nothing but the truth and this is because education has really done well for the majority of the human race including myself. And if there's anybody that can spell and write his name, such a person should thank his or her teacher and the process that's helped him or her to know how to write and read which is the learning process born out of education.
Though, my learning process was not that smooth as I face a lot of challenges while going through the process. Being a slow learner in both my primary and secondary school days, I could not really learn and meet up with the pace of my mates back then, and this was a serious issue to me and my parents, even though, i used to burn the night candle just to be able to learn and assimilate like others, but it's an effort in futility for me.
My mum even hired a private lesson teacher for me, but I still could not meet up with the pace of my classmates. Though, there's improvements, but not as it's supposed to be.
So, throughout my primary and my junior secondary school, I was nowhere close to learning fast. But the unexpected happened when I got to the senior secondary school 1, when I began to pick from being a slow Learner to learning fast.
Then, it's like a surprise and everyone around me including me, couldn't believe the sudden transformation that has taken place in my learning process. Though, this didn't just come on a platter of gold, but for the help of God and that of one of my teachers who would not allow me to rest.
Mr Adekunle my Agricultural science would not even give up on me for any reason. When others complain about my academic performances and being stigmatized by others, Mr Adekunle would always come to me just to encourage and embrace me with my shortcomings. He used to tell me that, “ Sam, you can do it, if I too can make it, then there's nothing wrong with you, you can as well make it.”
So, when he feeds me with those words, I used to have this belief in myself that I can do it and for this reason, things began to change for me academically and I began to improve academically. So, maybe because of his love and words of encouragement to me, I began to develop this kind of interest in Mr Adekunle subject which is agricultural science.
So, my love for the subject being taught by Mr Adekunle, which is agricultural science, began to wax stronger and stronger day in, day out, and in no time, I began to take the best student in the subject at the end of every session. It's like magic. So, whenever there's a competition that has to do with agricultural science both internally or outside the school, I used to be the one to represent the school and guess what, I used to be the winner of the competition and this act made me famous both in the school and outside.
Another thing that really drew my attention to the subject is how the subject was being taught by this teacher. Not only this, what the subject entails also caught my full attention and this has to do with both the crop and animal production which the subject is all about, plus it ability to feed nations of the world. So, like I said, all these really endeared me to the subject.
So, after my secondary, i decided to apply to study animal and crop production in the university, this idea of mine was made possible with the help of God and the assistance of mr Adekunle who took it upon himself to obtain my Jamb form for me and helped me in the admission process that later clicked and by the grace of I was admitted to study my preferred course in my preferred institution of learning.
So, in the university, I made sure I dedicate my all to the learning process in the university without leaving any stone unturned. Though, there's challenges as well, but I was able to overcome them with the help of God and from what I have learnt so far and the frequent word of advice from Mr Adekunle who would not let me be.
So, at the end of my five years in the university, I graduated from the faculty of agriculture and came out in flying colors being one of the best students in the faculty. Not only this, I was opportuned to claim some of the awards dedicated for some of the courses in the university. Thereafter, I went to serve my fatherland and after my one year mandatory service in the eastern part of the country I came back to my base.
Now, coming back to my base gave me great opportunities to start my agricultural businesses, both in crop production and animal productions. With this step of mine, I have been able to establish myself and earn myself a living. Not only this, I have also been able to contribute my quota to the feeding of the entire world through my palm plantation and rearing of pigs. Though there were challenges which are normal anyways, I have been able to surmount these challenges and now, I'm now living my life to the fullest. Thanks to God for bringing Mr Adekunle my way. It's really an impactful relationship to have with him. Agricultural science has really played and shaped my life to become who I am today.
This is my entry to the hiveghana weekly prompt.
