Football has a way of leaving a mark, with unforgettable moments living rent-free in our minds; be it the World Cup Final or just a casual goal in a match. The pride gets to a whole new level when it was a goal you scored, hehehe.
You sure know I can talk to any length and won't get tired (it's football time afterall, heheh) but, "no fear", I will be direct and precise this time, lol.
I started watching football relatively late, I started in 2015 although before then, I've been randomly watching football matches but I wasn't glued to it; just watched it for the fun of seeing 22 men in the football pitch running after a ball and shouting out their voices when they successfully place that at the back of the net but, in 2015, that was when the likes of Didier Drogba, Peter Cech, Frank Lampard and many others engraved the Chelsea badge in my heart and to make it better, Chelsea ended up winning the premier League that season, so it was such a nice welcome.
*I felt like I've landed and was like, "So this is what I've been missing all this time."
It's almost 10years of me consistently watching football and there has been a whole lot of epic moments I've witnessed while watching but let me pick one of them and explain....
It was 2021 UEFA Champions League. A season we had Thomas Tuchel as our head coach alongside an average squad players; that's why it was a mystery till date that we won that cup.
Throughout the competition, we faced tough clubs with world-class players but we pulled through.
We never scored many goals but we knew how to guide the one we managed to score and boom, we were already in final facing one of the best teams in football worldwide, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
On the very day of the the UEFA final, I was at home but, I knew the thrill of watching it alone won't match that of watching it with other students, you know what I did?
I travelled back to school, just for the thrills 😂
Not long enough, it was match time and everyone gathered as usual, half of the population came to see the downfall of Chelsea and even we the Chelsea fans had only a silver of hope; we just needed an entertaining match.
It's a GOOOOAAAL!!!! Kai Havertz puts us Infront in the early hours of first half... Nothing has ever gotten close to that honestly.
The underdogs taken the lead, is this the sight of something wonderful about to happen for the Chelsea football clubs, hehe.
Seeing us in front, all we prayed was to guard this lead till the final whistle and so it was... Thomas Tuchel lined up defenders and all the efforts to put the ball across the goalkeeper were futile as most of the shots landed on the players body and we became CHAMPIONS.
The 2022 World Cup is also another football epic moment, or was it Palmer's 4goals in 20minutes this season and many others though but for the purpose of this prompt, let's end with the one above, hehehe.
Football is one of those sports that never wears out, even when your club isn't performing well. You complain today and next week, you're already in the front seat waiting for the actions to start again.
These experiences stay with us reminding us why the sports holds a special place in our hearts.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day 👍
