It Will Never be the same Again.

Hello Everyone

Just like crumpling a piece of paper, trust once broken can be smooth over, but it will never be the same again. The pains from a broken trust can reduce but it may last a lifetime because each time the event is remembered it will bring back all the memories of the past.

The dictionary defines betrayal as the act of breaking someone’s trust or being disloyal to someone who relies on you. It involves going against the expectation or agreement between two parties. Betrayal can be personal, professional, or social. Betrayal can manifest in different ways for example, lying, exposing confidential information, breaching of contract, or not giving out help to someone as needed, especially when the person had expected you to come through for him or her as he has always done for you.

The consequences of betrayal are so high that so many things may be lost in the process and even innocent people may be affected if revenge for betrayal is to be taken. A story is told of two friends, Kingsley and Dave who met during their university days. They both made known to themselves their intention in contesting for political positions in the student government of their institution in their 300 level. Before the set time for the contest, they both purchased the form and started their campaign. They went for all the campaigns and did every other necessary preparation for the election together. On the screening day, Kingsley was screened out because of his current grade and failure to give a convincing manifesto, but Dave was given the mandate to go ahead with the election campaign and get ready for the election.

Both friends went home sad but they had to keep going with other things like their academics. Unknowingly to Dave, Kingsley was angry and envious of him and this made him stop talking to Dave as usual. Dave on the other hand noticed the attitude but kept calm hoping that he would come over it soon but unknown to him Kingsley had stopped campaigning for him but rather met with his opponent and told him strategies that can be used to defeat Dave in the election. Kingsley went further to go back to the students that had pledged to support Dave and convinced them not to support Dave anymore but rather vote for his opponent.

On the Election day, Dave was surprised to have such a low vote after all the campaign and good manifesto. He left so sad and heart broken that he did not win even after giving out so much money for a free school shuttle to carry students for days and also getting some of the students lunch and other stuff. He accepted his defect and took it in good faith. Things changed when he got an anonymous message containing all the things that his friend Kingsley did to make him fail on election day. Angry that he has been betrayed by someone he trusted so much, Dave planned for revenge. First he sent Kingsley out of his house, took away everything he bought for him and then announced he will not be paying the tuition fees for the students like he had promised.

This decision did more harm than good as Kingsley had to drop out of school as he could not pay his tuition fee and get himself his own apartment. The students that had their scholarships withdrawn struggled to pay their fees as they had used the money for other things. At the end of the day, everyone felt the pains of the betrayal and faced the consequences of the act. Although Kingsley apologized for his actions and was forgiven things were never the same between them as Dave cut every ties he had with him.
The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies, but from those you trust the most. It’s a silent dagger that cuts deep, leaving scars that time can’t heal.

Betrayal is even more painful when it comes to the people around you. Of course, Dave doing all that he did is a normal thing any hurt person would think about it even do.

Acting only from a place of hurt. It takes time to heal
