I remember Jim Thome quite fondly. He's another player that I learned of right when I began watching pro baseball as a very young boy. I remember Jim especially well because he was on the local Phillies team of course.
A third reason for me to remember Jim Thom is because the dude was one of the best power hitters ever to do it! He hit some bombs in his day. 612 to be exact! That puts Thome 8th ALL-TIME in MLB history. 101 of those were in a Phillies uniform.
I remember feeling like, betrayed when I learned that Thome played TWELVE seasons with the Indians before joining Philly. I wanted Jim to have been a Phillie and ONLY a Phillie. Thome did play a career high 159 games for the Phillies in 2003, so that's something.

Yeah, Thome is not only one of the greatest hitters ever, but he's got a rock solid reputation as being one of the nicest dudes ever. Everyone likes Thome apparently, and that's cool to know.
Thome played pro baseball for 22 years, and appeared in 2,543 games. He had 2,328 hits and had a career .276 batting average. He was a 5x All-Star, 1x Silver Slugger and led the NL in homeruns in 2003 as a Phillie!
in 2018 Jim Thome was inducted into the Hall of Fame. EXTREMELY deserving. Dude is a legend.
